A Winter Walk In Allaire

is one of our favorite places to visit when the weather is beautiful.
So why not visit now, we thought,
we needed some fresh air so we decided to bundle up and enjoy the park during this off season.
It was in fact a very different experience, it was quiet, the train was not running,
and there weren't any crowds or people.
There were no leaves on the trees,
all of the leaves crunched beneath our feet as we made our way through the park.
The hubs walked, I used my Zinger Chair.

The Chapel
The sun was in and out as we walked today but as we left it shone brightly on The Chapel,
the place where we wanted to be married, such a big regret.
I was only 19, my mom said I "was not" getting married there and that was that.
Being so young, I did not know you could go against what your parents told you to do.
Maybe you can understand that.
We got married in the church I attended and my mom worked at.

If you are interested, you can read more about the Historic Village at Allaire here.
I have shared our love for the village so many times,
it is a great place to visit and go for a stroll any time of the year!

- in every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks -

You could do a second wedding you know...😄

"The hubs walked, I used my Zinger."

I do not know what a Zinger is, but I am picturing the Jetson's car. Am I close?

That's a beautiful place even in the winter! I'm glad you got to spend time there and take these photos. Not all of our memories are good...I know we have that in common. Sweet hugs, Diane

Your last statement is so true!

That is a beautiful little village. I can’t get over the lack of snow.

Looks like they try to keep the park renovations updated. How about a "renew the vows" event at the chapel? Linda in Kansas

We like to go back to places at different times of the year because it usually looks a little different throughout the seasons, you can really see everything in the winter time when there are no leaves to hide things. I love the picture of the chapel where you can see the shadows of the tree limbs on it, many beautiful buildings.
I think back in our time we were more appreciative of our parents and if they were paying for our wedding we took some of their advice on how it should be done.

Take care, have a wonderful week!

I would much rather walk places like that in the off season when no one is around. The downside is that not everything is open. But you at least get to walk around and imagine in peace.

I remember learning about Allaire Village and I'm sure it was from you since we haven't ever been there! I do love restored historical villages -- they are such a great way to learn while having fun at the same time! And going in the off season sure was a good way to get pictures of the buildings without having to wait for people to disburse.

My mother as so opposed to my marriage that she stood in the back of the church for the whole ceremony. We were married 60 years.
