Saturday Critters #476

Sharing today a special memory from the winter of 2014.
The winter when I hosted a Baltimore Oriole in my backyard for the entire winter.
According to my bird book,
the Baltimore Oriole is only present in New Jersey during the winter.
I have never seen one in this area or at my feeders until "she" appeared.

I first saw her in late January of 2014 and I wrote my first post about her here.
I was thrilled she hung around and I wrote about her again on February 13, 2014.

She stayed and became part of the family and I wrote about her again here.

I always made sure she had plenty of food, water and the bird seed she prefered.

Spring came and she was still here...

The last time I saw her was on April 28th, 2014, I wrote about that last visit here.

Every day that winter I looked for her and every day she came,
I'm glad I didn't know that on April 28th I would never see her again!
I still look for her,

Hello Debbie,

I would be thrilled to see the Orioles in my yard, they are beautiful.
I think some were being seen this winter in Maryland. So they are around.
Great memories and your photos are wonderful. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

What a beautiful bird and what a beautiful adventure.
I love birds however here in Utah we do not get very many pretty ones. But I do love to watch them.

Hello Debbie.:=) You were fortunate to have seen this beautiful bird, which I have only heard about. Your photos are wonderful. Is that jelly you put out for the Oriole? Whenever I put anything sweet like sultans for example they get covered in ants in no time. I once smeared peanut jelly on a branch on my balcony and the ants devoured it. :=)
Lovely post Debbie!
Have a great weekend.

You just never know...she may return. I have only seen this bird a few times and it's been years ago. It's neat to have the info and know when we've seen a bird.

What a thrill to have her stay for the winter! Hopefully she found a companion and they went on to raise more of these beauties. x
