Be Inspired...New Zealand

New Zealand is an island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean.
It consists of two main landmasses, the North Island and the South Island.
It has more than 700 smaller islands, covering a total area of 268,021 kilometers.

It is winter right now in New Zealand,
but here is a look at the landscape outside of winter during "their" spring and summer.

Fishing...

During a Sunday drive around Lake of the Lilies,

I noticed this beautiful Egret fishing.

It didn't take long before dinner was served.

That little fish was gone in seconds...

it ruffled it's feathers and took off!

The beautiful River Queen was docked by the Inlet...

and most of the fishing boats were docked for the end of, what I'm sure was, a busy weekend.

It finally cooled off here, but the sun never made an appearance.

- a cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition -

Catamaran Sail Boats

This past Sunday when we visited the area beaches
we stumbled upon these very cool...

Catamaran Sail Boats

parked up on the beach, I am not sure what they are for or why they were here.
I thought perhaps a sailing club.
They do have sailing classes for anyone who would like to participate,
but those classes leave from and finish up through the inlet.

The beaches were empty, gloomy...except for the surfers.

I think the man to the right was "rescued" by the lifeguard, but I'm not sure.
He was swimming on the surfing beach which is not allowed.
He was also very far out.
After blowing the whistle at him many times, the lifeguard went in and assisted him out.
It was unclear if he was in any duress and was smiling as he came out of the water.
The swim this lifeguard took in order to reach him was absolutely phenomenal.
Such a strong swimmer in a volatile ocean.

The Spring Thing

 I finished my

Spring Thing Shawlette
by Lisa DiFruscia
Knitted with 50% Superwash Merino Wool - 50% Silk from Kettle Dyed Yarns

I bought this yarn ages ago at the
while we were on vacation there.

I started this Shawlette on April 25th and finished it on August 6th, 2021...
I did not work on it for the 4 weeks I was in the hospital.

I have moved on to...

this counted cross stitch piece which is almost done.
It was about 3/4 done when I pulled it out from my sewing box.
I started this piece when my boys were little which makes it about 30 years old.

I am hoping the center fold comes out when I wash it,
next time, if ever, I work on a piece like this, I will roll it instead of folding it.

I have just a little more outlining to do and it will be finished.
I am sure my friend Liz has noticed that the flying fish is gone, I know, she knew it would be.
- hehehehe -

This project is for my #summerofwips2021.
Find a craft, that has been laying around your house for some time that you have wanted to finish.
Take it out, and finish it over the summer, fun, right?
My knitting group started this fun activity/group, I really love this group of girls!

Surf's Up

Like I said yesterday, Henri missed us...
totally and completely but it's presence was felt in the ocean, and the surfers knew it was there.
I don't think I have ever seen this many surfers at the beach that is dedicated to them,
The Spring Lake Beaches are hugely popular with the surfers!

I could not go down on the sand, but we had a great view from the boardwalk.

- the best surfer out there, is the one having the most fun -
