Wise Words on Sunday

We had quite a big storm yesterday...lot's of rain and wind.
We lost power,
I had this guide for putting the clocks forward and used it to reset my clocks afterward...

I was glad to have it!

Saturday's Critters # 411

 Coots are winter birds here...
but there is one Coot that has been at Lake of the Lilies the entire summer.
Swimming around with whom ever is available, it is easy to photograph.

The American Coot is a dumpy waterbird, with huge lobed toes that facilitate swimming.

The Great Egret is a pure white, stately, heron like bird that visits New Jersey only in summer.

This huge waterbird, The Mute Swan, will be leaving soon, they only stay here during the summer.

Our summer birds are late leaving, perhaps because of all of the warm weather we have been having.

Halloween Scavenger Hunt

Last night we went for a drive around town to look at Halloween decorations.
Of course us, being us, we had to add a little competitiveness to it.

I found these Scavenger Hunts on-line, and that surely added to the fun.

- just a little hocus pocus -

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

I have started to think about Christmas...how to make Christmas fun this year!
We missed out last year...
I missed the cookie bake, the visit with Santa and the big meal with family on Christmas Day.
This year will be different and I want to appreciate all of the little and big things I missed last year.
With a little planning and forward thinking, I know I can make the holiday fun for everyone.

I started shopping, for my little nieces and nephews.
I only buy gifts for the young ones, the adults in our family do not exchange gifts.
I got a lot done in a cute little toy store a few towns over from us...
and I have knitted a few hats for those who need new ones.

We went to Cracker Barrel a few days ago
and I just had to share pictures of this "nature tree" with you.

This tree was stunning and it really struck a cord with me.
I would love to load it up, as is, and take it home with me!

- the best gifts in life will never be found under the christmas tree -
- those gifts are friends, family, kids, and the one you love -

Fright Fest

Great Adventure and thrill rides are not our thing.
But, I have been looking for something Halloween themed to do, where we would be outdoors,
not come into contact with others and most importantly, not touching anything.
Six Flags checked all the boxes and is only a 20 minute ride from home.
I knew they would have cool decorations and it would be a great place to take pictures...

and it was...

Wonder Woman

Riding around on my Zinger, this was a super fun evening.
oooooh and it wasn't scary, not even a little!

- I love halloween & I love that feeling: the cold air & the spooky dangers lurking around every corner -
