Ocean Grove, New Jersey

Ocean Grove dubbed " the good life"
Ocean Grove was founded in 1869, when a group of clergymen formed the Ocean Grove Camp...
formed to develop and operate a summer camp meeting site on the New Jersey seashore.
Now this one square mile in New Jersey is know as New Jersey's finest seashore resort.

Here on these tree lined streets is the largest assemblage of Victorian architecture in the nation.
In 1976, the town was entered into the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1977, the town was entered into the New Jersey State Register of Historic Places.

With a larger population during the summer,
Ocean Grove is open for business 365 days a year, and has over 3,000 year round residents.

This sweet little town is about 20 minutes from where we live.

Hi Debbie. I have such fond memories of Ocean Grove - as a youngster, my family would vacation there every summer! Oh, the fun my sister and I had!!
It was one of our favorites places to be. Hugs to you!
P.S. I am probably REALLY dating myself, but I remember when no cars were allowed in the town on Sundays. My Dad would have to find a parking space over in Asbury on a Saturday night!!

Oh my gosh, such gorgeous houses! I love their designs. You picked a perfect quote :) I hope you don’t mind but I gave you a shout-out on my blog today. I took a photo of a butterfly and mentioned the ones you take, which I have always loved.

Hi Debbie. No summer trip to the Jersey Shore is complete for me until I have been to Ocean Grove. We drove through there a few weeks ago. I also think there are more hydrangeas there than anywhere else in the world. Thank you for share these exquisite pictures. Stay cool... The heat index right now is worse than Florida.

That's really cool. I'd hate to maintain those houses, though.

That's a lot of Victorian architecture!

Wow those are gorgeous homes and you know now they are on the register they will have to be kept up to a standard. I bet that was a fun drive to take and look at all the ways people have flowers and decorated their homes! I like how they all follow the same theme but are a bit different from each other!

We were tempted to buy a house there but there are no driveways and Summer parking is impossible. We used to go there for breakfast on Sundays, after they allowed cars in.
