The Monarchs are Migrating...
I saw this unusual duck up in Rhode Island...
does anyone know of an identification on this duck?
- be like a duck -
- paddling and working hard under water, but what everyone else sees is a calm smiling face -

A scoter, maybe?
My guess, a juvie surf scoter
Hello Debbie,
Beautiful captures of the Monarch! I saw one these week on my butterfly bush. I believe your ocean duck is the Common Eider, but I could be wrong. Great photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Hello Debbie, I agree with Eileen, I believe it's an Eider but they only look like this from July to September. Beautiful captures of the Monarch butterfly. I haven't seen one all year!
I have seen a lot of Monarchs until the past week when we got a lot of rain and the temperatures have dropped off a lot. Your shots are so wonderful!
Your photos are exquisite....as alwys.....
The duck may be a Common Eider. Great shots.
Love the monarch photos. You really are a butterfly whisperer, Debbie.
That's an odd looking duck...no offense, Ducky! heehee! But I don't think I've ever seen one. I sure hope one of the Monarchs will show up around here. We have SO many butterflies right now. Happy weekend. I hope you're resting and taking it easy!
Beautiful butterflies! And ive never seen a duck like that! Hope your weekend is going great!
The Monarchs left here some time ago.
The Monarch is such a beautiful butterfly. As for the duck, I would say Scoter or Eider but I could be wrong.
Wonderfully colorful photos! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful butterfly.
Never seen a duck like that here. Bolsena lake, where I often go, is a perfect habitat for ducks but they are different.
Beautiful butterfly shots!

So many things migrating now, our hummingbird feeder has been busy :)
Wow that duck has an interesting bill on it doesn't it, very interesting, fun to find those unusual ones :)
Wonderful butterfly photographs.
All the best Jan
Monarchs are beautiful! We still have a few around. I've never seen a duck like that, but it's very cool looking! Most unusual.
I guess it is the time of year for the Monarchs to migrate. I love how you raise and nurture them. That is an unusual Duck. It is amazing how they look so calm while paddling.
Blessings and hugs!
