Staying Busy & Being Happy

Is Staying Busy The Key To Happiness...
yes, for me, it is!

Keeping busy is different than being rushed.
Staying busy with tasks or creative projects you enjoy
means having the right amount of time to do the things you love to do...
not being hurried to do things you don't enjoy.

During this time of being home and being isolated,
there are things we can all do to keep busy and create our own happiness.
I'm jumping in...
making two lists ~ one "To Do" list ~ and one list of "Blog Ideas"
I want to enjoy cooking and baking more than I have been,
that will have to be a choice I need to make as I have been getting tired of cooking.
I have even grown a little tired of knitting,
my knitting needle broke last night and a lot of stitches came off before I realized it.
The hearts in my Valentines cookies weren't as nice as I had hoped...
all little things
that are not really important in the grand scheme of things.

It's the little things in life that keep me happy. Although if my crochet hook broke I would be very unhappy indeed :0)
Have a great day.

You are right about keeping busy... at least between naps. I have a little sketching and water-coloring set up, some pottery, reading, crocheting, and playing with friends on Animal Crossing. And I have been wanting to try baking some bread (I haven't made pop-overs in ages and want to do that too). And of course I could really do a little house keeping, dusting, etc. - but not really in the mood. It seems like I have the energy to do only what needs to be done... and hold off on the rest. Probably Spring cleaning will be a big hit when the weather warms up!

I don't mind keeping busy, it is the overwhelming that is a bit hard for me, thankfully that doesn't happen too often. That is a bummer about your knitting needle breaking, I have never had that happen. I always have a to do list going.

Keeping busy or keeping occupied really helps in these times of Covid restrictions.
I am sorry your knitting needle broke last night! Not good, hope you managed to get back on course.

Take care.

All the best Jan

I find having projects and keeping busy with them maintains my sanity! That's why I've been working on my Arctic posts - my winter project.

I love to keep busy. I really like how you described it. Winter goes by so much faster when you have projects.

Debbie - keeping busy is never a problem for me, and most of the time it is doing things I enjoy. I would like to make time for more stitching and more jigsaw puzzles - as you say, it needs to be a conscious decision or it won't happen!!! You are spot on that one of the keys to happiness is knowing how to separate the little things from the big ones!!!

Hello, Debbie
There always seems to be something to do, projects, cleaning and cooking. I have been blogging less, just to rest my eyes. I was spending too much time on the computer and reading. I have been working on a puzzle and I ride my exercise bike when I can not get outside for a walk. Do whatever makes you happy! More snow coming today, take care and stay warm and safe. Have a happy day!

Hi Deb. Yesterday my daughter and I rang the bell in the cancer clinic to celebrate the end of an 8 month battle with cancer. I have emerged victorious after chemo, surgery and 30 radiation treatments. I can’t believe it is over. We couldn’t even celebrate with a dinner at R L because I have to stay away from people. But I am still here and cancer free!

I agree so much! It's the little things, and the time to do what you want, when you want. I see lots of things in this drawing that bring ME joy.....music, journal, plants, a record player, looking at the big shiny moon, a good cup of coffee, shelves of pretty things that have meaning to me, and most of all.....a nice big fire in a fireplace, real or electric! How cold is it there Debbie?--y'all stay warm and take care okay? Do y'all still have snow on the ground? Hugs!

I remember pure frustration when I used to crochet and find a mistake and our a problem of some kind. It can decrease the joy for sure. I have had to get back to cooking recently. My husband has been enjoying cooking more for a while. When he was in the hospital the 1st part of January, I realized I need to go back to cooking more. I really think I like his meals the best.
I have been working on more things that bring me joy. One of them is getting back to playing the piano. It's good for my brain to learn something new. Thanks you for this inspiring post.
Blessings and hugs!
