I recently visited Lake of the Lilies and was so excited to see this little guy scooting around.
I think this is a Semipalmated Sandpiper or perhaps a Juvenile Least Sandpiper
It was a tiny bird, very busy, scooting quickly about the shoreline.
Next I saw this pretty Killdeer
This bird is very common around the lake, I see several on every trip.
The Killdeer is boldly marked, long legged...a very noisy plover.

Hello, Debbie,
The little Sandpiper shorebird and the Killdeer are both cuties. Wonderful series of photos and sightings. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Great pics, Debbie. Love those little birds. Use to love watching them run back and forth with the waves. I'm going to answer your last question about Texas here. Yes, Texas is a wonderful place and we really like it. However, this is North Texas, not coastal Texas... so the water scene is simply not the same... and I do miss that.
Love the pics of both these birds! I can hear the Killdeer calling in my head.
They are both neat birds to watch! It's not often you find birds that stay in the same area so that you can get lots of pics! Hope you get out in nature this weekend. It's starting to get HOT here already!
Lovely pictures.
Just beautiful, as your bird pictures always are.
Marvelous captures!
One of the things I enjoy about your photos are how you always get great pictures of all the unique markings that are on the various birds. I also enjoy learning about them. The Sandpiper is a cute little bird. I love the markings on the Killdeer.
Thanks for sharing! Big hugs~
I love the way those sandpipers run along the beach they are just the cutest.
Hubby has been working on replacing the deck, doing it all by himself so we haven't been able to get out and get pictures, poor guy is going through withdrawls.
Great shots! The killdeer looks rather distinguished.
Hello. Wonderful photos. The killdeer is so beautiful.
Take care.
Beautiful birds! Killdeer are about as close as we get to seeing shorebirds.
You have such a great variety of birds where you live. All ours seem to be brown!!
Great shots of some great shore birds. Love the Kildeer. There was along the stream by the boardwalk here last week.
You have such beautiful birds to share. I especially love the kildeer. Shorebirds are my favorites, I think (well, they are ALL my favorites) and I look forward to seeing sandpipers again when I head north. Thanks so much for visiting me at Marmelade Gypsy!
I love shore birds and this one is a cutie.
These are great Debbie, you captured these birds beautifully.
Great pictures :)
All the best Jan
