Fishing...

I was thrilled Sunday afternoon when the hubs said we had time for a ride to
Lake of the Lillies

The hubs spotted him...a Great Blue Heron hiding in the grasses, I knew he was fishing.
The Great Blue Heron is a huge heron, with long legs, a long neck and a long dagger like bill.
It was clear by it's body language that it saw us, I thought it would fly off, but it didn't.

It must have been a good fishing spot!

Score...
it's tiny but the heron seems satisfied with the catch!

The fish looks bigger in it's throat then it did in it's mouth.

This is one of my favorite big birds, but quite honesty, I say that about all the birds!

I love the way that heron walks so deliberately through the water after its prey. Fabulous photos.
