If you read my Critter post on March 21st you will remember that our resident Emu laid 6 eggs.
I wanted to see the eggs and after talking until I was "purple" and "begging and begging",
popa Emu finally gave me a peek at the eggs.
My friend Liz, who lives close by, said the male Emu usually sits on the eggs.
where they will be kept until they are too big to escape, they do not fly.
I saw 2 chicks, 1 egg and this baby that did not appear to be alive.
I did not take pictures at first out of respect, thinking it did not survive.
After I was there about 10 minutes taking pictures, I noticed it was moving, and then moving a lot.
It survived,
I assume it takes a little time for them to get their bearings,
this one must have hatched just before I arrived.

They are indeed adorable at this stage. Thanks for sharing your exciting experience and the cute photos! Pic 2 is my favorite.
Those chickies look like one little mistep or stomp from a parent's foot could kill them. Hope they continue to grow. Linda in Kansas
