Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is going to be so different this year for all of us.
We will not be going to my niece Deanna's house.
I will really miss seeing everyone, especially Adelina and Lorelei,
but there will be a lot of people there and I don't think it is a good idea for me to go.
Instead, I am going to stay home and cook, youngest son Michael will be here,
and I am kind of excited that it will just be the 3 of us.
Mike will be here for almost one week and I am already thinking about all the long conversations
we will be having and all of the fun games we will be playing!
He is such a sport and like his momma that way.

I have always loved Thanksgiving, a holiday about family and food,
and it is my sons favorite holiday also.

In anticipation of trying to make the day super fun,
I found theseThanksgiving games/items at Amazon.
A ThanksgivingWord Scramble here and these Turkey Scratch Offs here.
If you scratch your turkey and get a pumpkin, you win.
Now I just have to decide what the price will be.
They separate the winning cards from the others, so if you have little ones you can make sure they win.

Remnants of Autumn

This message came up on our television last night, I thought it was so poignant.
I took this picture because I wanted to remember it and share it here.

Hello Debbie,
I am glad you son will be visiting for Thanksgiving. You have some fun plans. Hubby and I will be staying home and cooking for ourselves. Great message, I try to be a good listener. Take care, enjoy your day!

Cute little games and keeping groups small is a good idea. We will do what we normally do since our kids don't live here...go out for dinner.

I hope your Thanksgiving will be a wondrous time with your hubby and son.

Listening is an art, and don't we enjoy those who actually do.

I'm lucky my son lives locally and we'll have Thanksgiving together, but done differently. I'm doing a lot less cooking for one thing. Takeout is planned. And it will be on whatever day he's free, since he usually works Thanksgiving day. It will be lovely. Just having his company is the best part.

I love the idea of having the games to look forward too. I know you'll enjoy having your son there all week. What an odd year it's been and now we are preparing for a bad storm. Working on filling water bottles right now! Please keep us in your prayers. Hugs!

It will just be Greg and I this year too, nice that your son will be able to come, looks like you have some fun planned for the week :) Love your Autumn pics and that is a great message they had, all too often I think I am thinking of how to respond to something someone says, usually how to say it without being to confrontational, I need to just sit and listen :)

Sounds like you will be making the best of the situation. That is just what i plan to do. We are in a lockdown of sorts. Are only allowed to socialize with members of the household.

As I always say, "the secret of talking is the listening" whether you're with ONE person or in front of an audience. And yes, Thanksgiving will be different. Yet, it too will be memorable...:)jp

Beautiful words that we can all ponder and digest in these days. Countries at this moment have become excessively loud! If only we would listen and think before we open our mouths. How wonderful you will be celebrating Thanksgiving with your son. I can see a week filled with beautiful moments, Debbie.

Debbie, I am so glad you are going to be safe for Thanksgiving. Ted and I just staying right here. As badly as I want to see everyone or hug them. We do not feel like we should take that chance. I told my daughter just have their own gathering of their families. But be safe. It will fun for you to have your youngest home. Your games will be fun. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, Susie

Debbie - we have to make the most of the small blessings in our life! So glad you will have Mike home and with games to play, as well! I love games of all kinds. Your quote is spot on. Everyone in this country could benefit from really trying to listen to each other.

Yes, no matter where in the world you live Covid has affected everyone, with get-togethers etc postponed!
I am so pleased to read that your son will be visiting for Thanksgiving, something very nice to look forward to.

All the best Jan

You *must* make sure Mike wins that game (LOL)... it is quite different having grownup kids isn't it! ..... I am glad you will have special company for TG and I think it’s wise you’re not going to be with the “littles” at this time. Well be back to normal one of these times. ..... we’ll be skipping the Holiday with family for the same reasons. Thanks for the fun post!

I love that you TV station has these awesome quotes. They are uplifting and we need that. I am so excited that you son will be with you for Thanksgiving. I know it is hard not to be with other family, but I think you will have great joy with just the three of you. The games look interesting. I will wish for you sweet moments this Thanksgiving holiday.
We will probably be alone this year. Perhaps, our one daughter's family will come by for dessert; if we can manage to keep all the Covid restrictions. Sending loving thoughts and hugs your way!
