Masters Of The Yard

The Catbirds have returned from their winter break, in quite large numbers.
We have great offerings here and the word is out, he told 2 friends, and he told 2 friends...
and needless to say, the yard is filled with Catbirds.
A gray bird wearing a black cap, it has a long tail, which is often cocked.
 It meows like a cat.
The Catbirds love suet and grape jelly.

And then we have the Bluejays...

A large blue bird with beautiful markings.
Blue above, gray below...it has a black collar and necklace,
wings and tail are spotted with white.
They will eat any seed or nut, but peanuts are their favorite.
They are loud,
and I usually hear them before I see them.

Restrictions are lightening up here at the Jersey Shore and most of the beaches are open.
All parks, walking paths and bike paths are open and we have really been enjoying that.

Another day in the books, we are doing well!

I’ve never seen a catbird. Love it.

While I like Catbirds, Debbie, I am not fond of Blue Jays. They just attacked a Dove's nest at my daughter's and a Downey Woodpecker's young at my son's. They are loud and very pushy and far too aggressive for my gentile crew I prefer. However, your close-ups are great...keep birding...:)jp

Both of these birds have a beauty all their own.

Beautiful photos of the Catbird and Blue Jay. I loved the one with the peanut in his mouth. Amazing bird photos as always.
Things are opening up more here too. I'm a bit nervous over it all. I don't see the social distancing and masks like I would like.
I do hope the cases are going down and things will get better. I am happy that you get to go biking and do some fun things like this. It is nice to get out.
Be Safe, blessings and hugs!

Not sure if we have any of those catbirds here, but I will be on the look out! Love the bluejay picture! I buy bags of peanuts for them and they sure love them. Still waiting on the hummingbirds...they arrived real late last summer--seems they just arrived and in 2 or 3 weeks they were gearing up and heading out on their big migration! Hope your weekend is great, are y'all going out on the bikes? Well, be careful and enjoy!!--hope you make pictures for us!

These are fantastic photos! Excellent details! A certain someone you know has been hoping to see a catbird, but they've never visited the feeders. The woods are so thick they could be there and never be seen.

I saw a catbird for first time in Florida a few years ago...heard it first. Did not expect to see what I saw! (I think I’d only need vaguely heard of them before... they aren’t in Oregon). certainly was a fun experience!

I would love to see a catbird, I don't think I have seen them. I have seen the blue jays all kinds of places but not in our yard so much.
Our state parks have just opened as of today. It will be nice to have more places to be able to go. We can eat at restaurants as long as the seating is outside.
