Saturday Critters ~ 319 ~

My ride to Lake of the Lilies on Thursday,

turned into a trip to the Manasquan Inlet as well.
The Inlet is close to Lake of the Lilies
and the hubs is so kind to take me to all the places I want to go.

I saw this unfamiliar, easy to photograph bird...
it was "interesting", it did not fly off, so I went with it.

It's a Female Boat Tailed Grackle
I was happy I photographed it as the pictures were nice and clear
and it was a "new to me" bird!

Don't think she didn't notice me...
"how many pictures are you going to take of me"?

While photographing her, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a
Herring Gull
catching and eating crab for lunch.

These 2 pictures are a little out of focus...the gull was a tad excited, I was excited for him!

If you go looking for it, you will always find something to photograph. The weather has made me stay indoors.

Beautiful grackle! We have lots of Common Grackles, but I've never seen a Boat-tailed. Great catch for both you and the gull! I assume they have to eat the crabs piece by piece.

Hello, Debbie!

Awesome photos of both the Boat-tailed Grackle and the Herring Gull. That poor little crab is a goner. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend. PS, thank you for today's visit and comment.

You do take wonderful pics! Love the expression on that bird's face in that last shot. And as for sea gulls, I love any pics of them... especially flying and landing... but eating is good too.

Hello Debbie. The photos of the Boat Tailed Grackle are fantastic. Herring Gull is a beautiful looking bird. It is a white bird, but its feathers are always clean.

Great shots! We have a different kind of grackle so this brown version looks exotic to me.

All great shots Debbie. At least that gull is not going hungry that day.

Yummy crab for lunch...gotta admit I’d be excited too. (We used to go out for Dungeness crab in Oregon and catch our own.. it was great to have as much crab as we could possibly eat!). The boat taled grackle s are pretty! I actually like them a lot!
