The Paperwhites

This year I purchased my Paperwhite Bulbs at my favorite garden center,
Barlows in Sea Girt, New Jersey
I planted them late this year, later than I usually do.

I always plant them in the same pot, I use the same stones,

you can use either stones or soil.

I only planted 6, that's really all you need for a pot this size.
They looked like this on December 18th, right after I planted them.
It was late for them too, so they had a head start "sprouting"!

They grew very quickly and on December 27th, they looked like this.

January 2nd, in the full sunlight, they were gorgeous!

This is a wonderful bulb to force in your home.
Fast growing, very rewarding...you can smell them in any room of the house.

  1. Oh my they are lovely and I can only imagine the smell. I always have wanted to do this and then forget all about it.

  2. Hello, they are lovely blooms.. I wish I could smell their scent. Wishing you a happy day!

  3. They are a glorious tease for spring in the heart of winter. Beautiful!

  4. A touch of Springtime! They are perfect (and I remember that aroma!)

  5. Your Paperwhites are beautiful . I tried some this year and was very disappointed .

  6. Yes, this is wonderful, you always have such great early growing ideas!

  7. They are lovely Debbie …
Hope your week is going well.

    All the best Jan

  8. Debbie - what an inspiration! The purity of the white and the profusion of blooms gives me hope in these times when events can seem a bit gloomy.

  9. I really need to do that one of these years, I just can't get over how fast they grow and they are beautiful all in bloom together, I can just imagine the smell!
