My bird book indicates that this bird is in the heron family. Did all of you know that?!?! and not tell me!!!! "Cattle Egret. Great Egret, large all-white heron, often seen feeding in marshes, swamps and seashores." My first sighting was a small pond, along the highway. This one I spotted in Stonington, where a very sweet woman told me it was an Egret. Prior to that, I still believed these were Herons!!!!
They are graceful and slow making these flight shots possible!!!!
When I look at these shots I am super surprised that I took them....and pretty darn proud!!!

These are truly magnificent photographs!
Beautifully done!
Wonderful shots! I can never get flight shots of any bird. You did a great job!
They are fabulous shots!
beautiful Great Egret. not a cattle egret. :)
He looks a lot like a blue heron, only white. Nice photos. I like the white against the blue of the water and the graceful flight of such a big bird.

You have a right to be proud, these are beautiful pictures.
Really gorgeous photos - awesome.
I'm particularly taken with the Egret's reflections in the first two. Oh, and then the ones where it's in flight.... superb!
A beautiful post Debbie, thank you and, yes, you should be proud of yourself.

Stunning egret shots!!
Lovely shots! The only flight shots I've been able to get are by accident! Great job!
They are so beautiful. I was lucky enough to see one a couple of months ago in a swamp. This is a big deal cause they are not here in Canada. I never seen it again but I did get photos. Very cool pics. B
These are really nice shots.
Wonderful shots, Debbie! All of them are so well done.
And fyi -- I did take my flower photo in the clothes I wore to the wedding reception -- long sleeved knit shirt and jeans (another great thing about country receptions!)
And thanks so much for linking up to YSB this week! I truly appreciate it.
