Have we really done this 630 times before now...I think we have.
A big thank you to Eileen who brings all us critter lovers together and hosts
You will be happy to know that I left the house, braved the cold and visited
Lake of the Lilies
I needed pictures for today and I have not visited the lake since the winter ducks have arrived.
Male Gadwall
This is a duck I only see during the winter and quite honestly, I don't know if I have ever seen him before.
This is considered to be a familiar and "understated" dabbling duck.
They favor shallow ponds and lakes.
American Black Duck
Males and Females have a similar look...but the females bill is a greenish color.
This duck is familiar on the east coast.
The first picture "may" be a male, and the second a female
looking very different than the female, it is also only here in the winter.
I watched this Egret for some time and it was not about to come out of hiding.
I have always read that The Great White Egret heads south for winter.
This is not the first time I have seen them in winter, so who knows.
If I had wings, I would not hesitate to fly to Florida for winter.
The Mallards were a bonus, I didn't even see them when I took the picture.

Excellent photos. I like the Merganser, Have a nice weekend
Oh my goodness, the photos of the pair of ducks are amazing. The one with the reflection black & white too. The first duck - the pattern of his feathers!! Just amazing.
Hey Debbie. Happy Weekend. You got excellent shots here. I even see the eyes well. Excellent photography!
I love that Merganser duck. It's head is so interesting. Crazy how different looking it is from the male. Have a great week.
Great photographs Debbie.
Happy weekend wishes.
All the best Jan
Nice photos. I've never seen a duck with a greenish bill. Linda in Kansas
Beautiful shots! It was definitely worth braving the cold to see those Mergansers and the American Black Duck.
Hello, Debbie
I am glad you got out to the lake for your winter duck photos.
The ducks are all beautifully photographed. I have been seeing the Great Egrets along the coast in the winter too. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great week ahead. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
Wow. The closeups of the ducks are really beautiful. I found the mergansers interesting as I have never seen them before (even though I'm from Jersey) and like you, I would expect to see the egrets in Florida in the winter. Beautiful pics. Thanks.
Wow, 630 does sound like an amazing amount, and it feels really good for the joyful side of things. Here's to another 630 and thank you for such beautiful captures! Enjoy your day!
I didn't know there were winter ducks. Beautiful picktures.
