Making Baked Apples

When was the last time you made Baked Apples?
I adore Baked Apples and have not made them in ages.
I had a few extra apples in the house and I thought, let's give it ago.
I've never used a recipe in the past, that I can remember...but I looked on pinterest for a few ideas.
There are many ways to stuff and bake an apple and after reading through a few recipes,
I decided on a recipe from Simply Recipe that you can find here.

The ingredients are quite simple...

* 4 Apples - Rome Beauty or Red Delicious
  * 1/4 cup of brown sugar
   * 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
                                                        * chopped raisins or pecans
* 1 tablespoon of butter
* 3/4 cups boiling water

I used the recipe as a guide...I did not measure anything and I did not add any raisins or nuts.
The rest is simple.
- gather all of your supplies and ingredients -

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees...rinse and dry apples.

Using a sharp paring knife cut out the core of each apple leaving the bottom 1/2 inch intact.
I also used a spoon to be sure I was scooping out all the seeds and core that needed to go.
I rinsed them again to be sure the entire cavity was cleaned out.
Fill with butter, brown sugar, another pat of butter, then sprinkle cinnamon on top.
Place the apples into a baking dish, and pour 3/4 cup of boiling water into the bottom of the dish.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes.

They were so delicious...super sweet!

I ate mine plain...

but the hubs went all in with whipped cream.

I saw so many variations on making these, some were quite elaborate.
Some recipes suggested using honey or maple syrup, many added nuts, all included a bit of butter.
I read a few recipes that included rolled oats, I thought that sounded interesting but I did not have any.

ooooh and the house smelled scrumptious!

Goooood Morning, Debbie! LOOOOVE baking apples. That's how I make my apple sauce and in fact, this week have a big pile of apples to skin, chop and bake. Though it's been a long time since I've baked apples whole like this. They look goooooooood.

Yum! Those sound delicious. I'll have to buy some apples (I'm glad you told which apples to buy). Can't wait to try it out.

This made me smile, there’s something so cozy about baked apples filling the house with that warm, sweet smell. I love how you made it your own, skipping the raisins and nuts and just enjoying the simple, buttery sweetness. And of course, whipped cream makes everything better!

I just shared a new post as well, and you’re very welcome to stop by and take a look when you have a quiet moment.
