Saturday's Critters #434

The Mute Swans have returned to the area where they build their nest every year,
I was so happy to see them.
Beginning April - June the female starts laying eggs, often before the nest is even completed.
Eggs are laid every other day until the clutch is complete.
The average clutch consists of 1 - 11 eggs, that are initially blue/green,
then turn white and eventually brown.

I watched as she added to and fluffed the nest.

There were several pretty Mallards there also...

Oh my goodness that swan is amazing. I bet it is a beautiful site to see them all perched in the nests with their eggs.

Oh so pretty, so neat to see her in her nest, wow I didn't know that they laid eggs over days like that, that must be why some take longer than others.

Swans are so gorgeous and elegant. To be able to see one in person is amazing, specially that you found one nesting. I didn't know about the egg colours, fascinating! Beautiful photos of the duck too! Such pretty texture and vibrant colours. Love these photos, Debbie!
