We visit the beach more in the off season than we do during the summer.
Howe Street Beach, in Bay Head
is one of our favorites.
The beach replenishment or nourishment project is complete, and they have rebuilt the dunes.
The beach is much wider and the walk to the water is much greater,
making it more difficult for me to get to the ocean.
The sea glass is all gone,
the work that was done pumping layers of sand to the beach has covered it up
and changed it's flow in the ocean for now.

We visited recently,
just to take a peak, and make sure she was still there...
everything is different but the ocean...she still sounds and smells the same!

Think it would be awesome to have it all to yourself.
I have the North Sea closer but in the winter it is too cold to go there.

Hello, I always love a visit to the beach and to see the ocean. Sorry about your sea glass, but they do need to keep the dunes in place. Wonderful photos. I hope you day and new week are great!

They did a great restoration job, but too bad about the sea glass! Beautiful water!

very very pretty! I'm so sorry about the sea glass though...I know how you love finding it. Down here I NEVER FIND ANY hardly ever. Like y'all, we visit the beaches more in the fall and winter months, usually we have the whole beach to ourselves even, very few people out. You know how the summers are......busy busy busy, more crowded. A quiet peaceful beach is so nice.
I guess you are going to have to wait for beach erosion.
How many years will that take?
Still, like you say, the ocean is still there I so wish I could see, smell and hear it again.
I have to go and check that the ocean is still there once and a while.
Oh my what a view. I can just imagine sinking my toes into that sand and just hearing the sounds around me. So much for that around here, for now. But winter has its beauty too. Enjoy your week.
you definitely have the beach all to yourself, bummer about the sea glass, that dolphin is so cool. There is nothing like being at the water!!
Debbie - we are going to Grand Cayman in May, and I am looking forward to some beach time! Overall, do you agree with what they have done with your beach?
hi angie...what a great question, one i have answered in my mind a hundred times. the answer is yes and no. the work probably needed to be done, but was very costly. the next time we have a noreaster, all the sand they brought up on to the beach, will be washed away. living here my entire life, i have watched the cycle so many times. the mighty ocean takes what it wants, we are fighting a loosing battle, primarily because of the homeowners who live along the beach. but letting it all evolve naturally is not the answer either...and i do not have any expertise in the area, but someone must. someone must/needs to have a better solution!! debbie
hi ruth, it's a beautiful thing and we MUST see it, hear it...every once in a while...because we are "shore" people!!
