Have you ever made this?
It's super simple, just an egg and bread, but somehow as a whole,
it tasted better.
it tasted better.
Use butter to toast the bread in the fry pan,
because - butter makes everything better, right?
I used a glass to cut the circular hole in the bread,
can you believe I don't have a round cookie cutter, the glass worked just fine.

The bread toasted this way was delicious and
it's nice that the toast and egg are "done" at the same time.
No one gets cold waiting - if you know what I mean.
The yolk was runny and my bacon was crisp.

I think I am going to make this again tomorrow, with the addition of hash browns!
If you think you may need a recipe, the recipe is here, I didn't use one.

Okay... you got me hooked. I am going to give it go.
Do you butter the bread on both sides?
My good friend has a son with special needs, and he is so excited when his Mom makes him 'egg in a basket'! That is where I first heard of this. My gk's love french toast and will eat as long as I keep the toast coming!
Yes, you treat the bread like grilled cheese bread, but obviously there's only one slice. it toasts up so nicely, and it's all warm as it comes out of the fry pan. usually my toast is cold or not ready yet!
No I never have, I am one of those that fry my eggs until there is absolutely no chance that their are any runny stuff whatsoever, LOL :)
Oh yeah, this is one delicious treat!
Hello, looks yummy to me. A great breakfast, better than my cold cereal. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!
I used to make that for my daughter when she was little. We still enjoy!

I learned to make this in Home Ec in the 7th grade! Happy memory...thanks! :-D
I used to make this for the kids all of the time. I had forgot about it. Yours looks so yummy.
My, what a delightful and tasty idea! And my husband would agree with you about butter making everything better :)
It's so good to pop in for a visit. I have missed you and your posts while on my blogging break. Happy New Year, dear Debbie! Hugs!
I have never made that...but am going to try... I love my toast with my egg...what a perfect way to cook it:)
Oh man, this was a fave of the kiddies...now I am hungry! And I am going to make this for my late dinner tonight! And of course, the bacon has to be crisp! Yikes...my mouth is watering! Aloha!
Oh Debbie!
What delicious food. Already I want to eat it.
Hugs and greetings.

You brought back memories of our camping days Debbie. The first tag-along trip we did in our 4WD in central Australia. The cook there made them for our brekkies. 30 at a time she had going on the campfire plate! A sight to behold. Yours looks a touch more elegant though. A lovely post, thank you... mmmm-yum, wonder what we'll be having this morning ;D)
Well! That looks good enough to eat and mighty delicious.
So good and a treat for us now and again! You've put me in the notion for one again!
Happy New Year Debbie!
I'm so hungry right now. Im not sure I have a round cookie cutter - but a cute shape might be fun :-)
Yum! What time is breakfast? ;-)
My wife would love that
I have never cooked eggs like that, your creation looks delicious, including the crispy bacon :-)
That looks worth trying. One of our favourites is eggs on toast. Eggs in toast might be just as good.
That is delicious and even more so with a slice of cheddar or american melted on top just b4 serving!!
My husband (ex) loved these. Called them "Scout Eggs", as they made them in Boy Scout camp.
Eggs are so delicious ...
All the best Jan
Sadly, when I was sick, hubby kept wanting to dash out and buy me an egg/bacon sandwich. He was so eager to help me as I coughed my guts out, I couldn't say no. I'm not regretting it this week, but watching my calories!!!! I wasn't getting outdoors as I used to.

Oh, this looks so good; it might be dinner for us tonight. Love it!
Hugs for you~
