Smithville, NJ

It was a crazy weekend, lots of work and just a little play.
It's tax time...and at our house,
that means 18 tax returns need to be prepared,
checked, adjusted, re-checked, signed and copied.
Everybody gets a check,
and then off to the post office they go.
It is a daunting task, one I loathe...but today I feel happy,
as the job has been completed, and a true calm embraces me.

The weather here at The Jersey Shore was amazing this weekend,
we did sneak in a trip to Smithville, NJ

They were having an outdoor Art Show
and a British Car Show.

We had a lunch/dinner combo here at The Historic Smithville Inn

The sand sculpture out front still has Chuck's name on it,
Chuck = the hubs, for those who may not know.

I love covered bridges, in all the times we have visited Smithville,
I have never seen this one.
It's way in the back, we have never walked this far.

Here is the "Art Show" area...

the posting on Facebook neglected to mention it was an
"Underground Art Show"
There were some interesting pieces, lots of self expression,
but definitely not my thing.

But it was a beautiful day and as always, we made the best of it
and had a blast!!
Any day we have blue skies, warm temperatures,
and lots of "selfie" opportunities,
we are happy!!

I found this Lodge behind the main shopping area,
I have never seen this before.

It's a great Lodge if you want to visit the area and stay overnight.
The Smithville Inn was hosting a wedding and the
wedding party was staying here.

The grounds were so quiet and landscaped with a rustic flare.

These little cabins were available for overnight guests.
Those are Jerzey Devil totem poles on either side of the front door.

The hubs, carrying the heavy camera bag-purse combo.
I should have gotten black since he always gets stuck carrying it.

 Just for fun...

We have visited Smithville so many times and
never bumped in to this amazing lodge.
I find that happens a lot.
No matter how many times we visit an area, there is always
something new to discover!

oooooo and the Car Show, gone at 3 pm when we started looking for it.
I can only assume it was only a few cars.

I know you felt relieved after them taxes were finished & mailed out so frustrating. Glad you found this wonderful place & shared these photos. You & your husband look so happy together. He's a good man to carry your purse or camera bag when you need him to.

Beautiful place to visit, even if everything didn't quite work out as planned .. Holy cow that is a LOT of tax returns.

That looks like a very nice place to visit. Yes, it was that kind of Saturday for us too, I feel like today the weight is off. I don't like tax time. :)
There are so many things to go do and explore.

There yo go again on a fantastic adventure. Another place I would like to visit sometime. You brighten my life with your trips since we don't get out and about much yet. Hopefully, my husband will retire in July and we can do some fun trips. I loved the pictures and especially the Lodge; since it is a barn. I do love barns. I really liked the cabin and would love to stay at it; this is my kind of thing. Thanks for sharing it all and I always enjoy the pictures of the two of you. Hugs!

Ugh, we just finished our taxes today. Well, we gave our CPA the green light to file, but still....I had to organize all the receipts, etc. Not a fun job. Isn't it fun to make new discoveries like that? Great pics!

The hubs and I met in our teen years....he was my boss at a burger joint!! We got married when we were 19 and have been married for 36 years, I still adore him. He is the most amazing person I have ever know and in a way, he saved me. My life is so much better, because of him, and I could not imagine my life without him!!

True story!!

Glad the Tax thing is done for you and that certainly is a lovely place to be out and about at.

We pay to have our taxes done by someone else. Saves the headache.
Oh what a nice lodge. To bad the art show wasn't to your liking. I think I might actually have enjoyed it from the looks of the one photo.

I read that post on how you meet your husband & that was a sweet story. I've been reading your blog for about 2 years, I never made a comment because alot of bloggers hate when someone leaves a comment & there is nothing about the person but one day I couldn't hold back it was such a good post I had to leave you a comment. How I believe I found your blog is threw a lady that lived in New Jersey that moved to Sweden, I can not remember her name but she wrote a book then she quite blogging. Also a French blogger name My French Heaven from 1 of them 2 bloggers is where I found you. Not important but thought you might want to know how someone finds a blogger in my case anyway. I promised my old high school friend that I would read her blog every day, 4 years ago. Other then that I wouldn't know about blogs. I really enjoy reading yours.
