Summer Memories!!

The hubs and I had a great summer.
We shared some really wonderful moments, took lots of fun little trips,
and this summer I learned how to knit.
I have been collecting lots of mementos from the summer.
You name it, I saved it.
Because I had so much "stuff",
I decided to make a...

 "Summer 2014 Memory Jar"

This is the top!
My niece, Emily brought me two sand dollars that she found in Florida.
I put one inside the jar and glued this one to the top.
What's inside, say you??
I'm so glad you asked, let's take a peak at what's in there.

Hotel room keys, sea glass, shells, ticket stubs, guide maps and
business cards from some of the awesome stores
I visited this summer.
Scatterogories score cards, souvenir pennies, stickers
and so much more.
Every time I look at this jar sitting on the shelf,
I will be reminded of the wonderful summer we shared in 2014.

I am also starting a "rock" garden.

From this day forward, wherever we go, I am going to pick up a rock.
Mark the bottom like this with a sharpie pen,
and keep them all together in my "new" rock garden.
The hubs sealed them so hopefully the names will not wash away.

Road trips only, you can't do this when you "fly", just sayin'!!

I like how you are preserving your memories. I also like road trip vacations the best. Being in complete control of everything and exploring off the beaten path... it's the only way to go.

Great idea! Now if you ever need the information for any of those stores or other stops on your travels again you will know just where to look! Very nice (and neat) way of preserving memories!

I love your memory jar! Do you take the items out every now and then and look at them and remember?

Have never seen a memory jar before. And writing the info on the rocks and sealing them is, as Buttons said, BRILLIANT! It's a , "Why didn't I think of that??" kind of thing!

Debbie, your memory jar is a great idea.. You have some wonderful memories of the summer of 2014.. The rock collection sounds great too. Thanks for sharing, have a happy Monday!

Love how you stored everything compactly! I used to box everything from my trips. After one Ireland trip, I also brought home some rocks and put them in my Irish boxes. What I like about your jars is the transparency -- you can see it all without having to open it.. Good thinking, Deb!!

This is just so perfect!!! When you make a scrapbook you can't do anything with 3-D stuff like seaglass! It leaves a lot to be desired. Your jar is the perfect solution!

What a good idea! I think I need to make one like that. Do you have many of those jars?

Isn't that the truth and one of the many reasons we love road trips. What a super idea about the memory jar. I love that. I remember my mum having a rockery garden, she used to collect them from a favorite beach we visited when I was a child and marked them in much the same way. Have a great week Debbie.

Great way to save memories in a jar. And I have picked up rocks in various places and now don't know for sure where I found them. I should have tried the Sharpie and sealer trick!

A memory jar is such a super idea!! Love that. Always when we take a trip there are so many little items that I have no idea what to do with. Problem solved!

Neat idea! I've saved a rock from all the big canoe trips I've been on, and written the name of the river on the bottom.

What a fun idea - neat and compact and something you can pull out during gloomy days and reflect on what a brilliant summer you both had. From this side of the internet, it has been fun to tag along through your blog posts.

What a super idea. I love your keepsake jar. The rocks! I do this, but I haven't thought of writing on them, or painting them like Gail (At the Farm) does. Both are perfect ideas for my empty rock garden. I'm glad you had a wonderful time.

I think that is a marvelous idea. Now if I can just get my husband retired maybe I can start collecting rocks and memories.
Blessings for this fun idea.

:) Love the rock idea. Miss E senior visited 'home' last week and one of the only mementos of her mid-year Europe trip was a small piece of rock from Mt Vesuvius which she collected for Miss E junior who was so concerned for her safety whilst visiting this volcano.
