Saturday Critters #493

In May of 2021, I first became aware of a family of Fox living under the boardwalk in
Ocean Grove.

We took several trips to see them before they came out of the den
and up in sight, while I was there, and able to get pictures.
I was thrilled to photograph this Red Fox Family and I shared those pictures from May 2021 here.

Now, it has happened again.
They have taken up residence in the same den at the North End Pavilion
which was destroyed by a fire back in 2019.
As you can imagine, this family of Red Fox ~ Mom, Pop and 5 Pups ~ are getting a lot of attention.
The beach may seem like an odd spot to see a Fox Family,
yet it is in fact very common as Fox are indigenous to the beach area.
It is believed they will stay in this den for 6 - 8 weeks and then move on!

We saw 3 of the 5 pups, mom and dad did not make an appearance.

The town has installed a fence around a large area where they are,
to keep people from getting too close, and to keep the Fox safe.

Oh my gosh they ARE SO CUTE!! their coats are so soft and fluffy looking and those velvety black legs and paws!!!--- and sweet faces. We have a family here and they stay scarce which is good. But I do love seeing them. We have deer every evening they are out like clockwork. I am hoping to see babies sometime!

Hi Debbie :=)
Wow! Beautiful captures of one of the most photogenic animals there are in many different poses. The cubs have adorable faces and a streamlined body, and are just as beautiful as adults. You did well to get so many lovely images.
All the best.

There was a fox family living under the boardwalk on one of our beaches last summer. And our city too put up fences around them to keep them safe. They really are the sweetest looking creatures and your shots are fabulous as usual.

Isn't it crazy how non-shy they are around their den? I've seen a few fox dens over the years and it seems like they could care less if people were watching them.

It amazes me some times the places they pick, they are so cute, probably good to have a fence up for everyone.
