A Trip To The Inlet

 brought several surprises...

powder blue skies and darker blue water.

There are always a lot of Gulls.

Most of the commercial boats were out.

The Lilly Rose was here, a boat I have never seen before...

also The Voyager, another large commercial boat I have not seen here in the past.

Seeing this Female Long Tailed Duck here at the inlet was a real joy.
As I was taking these pictures, I did not know what I was photographing.
I only knew it was a duck I did not recognize and do not see regularly.
Long Tailed Ducks are only present here in the winter,
they are a diving duck that are associated with open seas in winter, even among tempestuous waves.
I saw them here many years ago...
I only remember seeing the males which have long tails that point up out of the water.

I think this is a Common Loon seen here only in the winter.

Of course there were freshly made donuts and our favorite coffee flavored drink from Dunkin Donuts.

No surprise there!

As I sit here and read this, I too am having a donut that Barb picked up yesterday in Rapid City. I don't think I have ever seen a longtail duck but the other is definitely a loon.

Great post, Debbie. Ducks to donuts…who wouldn’t like that?

We had a surprise wedding in the family and I’ve been away. It is good to be visiting you again.

Haven't had doughnuts in awhile--think I'll go buy some!! I like the mini white powdered ones and also the cream filled Bismarks and the long cream filled chocolate iced ones-- they used to be called " long Johns" but not now-- they have a white fluffy sweet cream filling In side but the Bismark have a cream colored more like a vanilla pudding filling. neither are eclairs.....ANY DOUGHNUTS are good right? LOL

My uncle who lived in Connecticut always went to Dunkin donuts. We begin to have donuts were i live.

So nice to see blue sky in your photographs ... ours has been rather wet and grey today!

All the best Jan

Debbie, we use Dunkin Donuts 100% Columbian coffee... and love it. As for donuts, yours look wonderful. I can have the Katz frozen gluten free ones, but not the others. However... when DH goes to Krispy Kreme and comes home with hot glazed, I usually cheat and sneak a half.

Always fun to come across new things isn't it, I bet you were thrilled when you got home and looked at the pictures. I do love how blue the water is.

Congrats on the Long Tailed Duck! That water is a fantastic blue. I'm quite certain I'd enjoy both of those donuts!

I love all the various blues you've captured here, and they would certainly chase away the blues if one had them. Thanks for sharing.
