Carousel on the Mall

While we were in Washington, we visited this
Carousel on the Mall
Built in 1947, this one of a kind carousel is nicknamed the traveling machine and
is the only working carousel in Washington, D.C.

The complete history about the carousel can be found here.
It is quite interesting!

Wonderful photos Debbie. They gave me flash backs to my childhood. Every nation has a dark side to it's history including mine.

Hello, it is a pretty carousel. I did not know that they moved Baltimore's Gwynn Oak carousel to DC. Enjoy your day!

Such a beautiful carousel, Debbie. A lot of work went into painting and decorating those horses!

Oh this is a beautiful Carousel and almost as old as I am. I love Carousel; and all the lovely horses on them. I used to love to ride them when we would find one here and there. Thanks for sharing this one and I liked the history. Blessings and hugs!

Oh Wow, that is so good that they kept it up and running and looks like they take great care of it too, I never knew that story.

What a colorful carousel. You really captured it's beauty and it was quite interesting to read about the little girl who was the first black child to ride it.
