Restore The Shore

Yesterday the hubs and I went for a walk along the beach.
We searched for sea glass and found only a few small pieces.
I'm not going to bother with a photograph of the loot,
trust me it wasn't much.

The ocean was beautiful.
It's difficult to comprehend the devastation that lies
all around this massive body of water.

The boardwalks are still gone. Homes still turned on their sides,
untouched after Super Storm Sandy,
they cannot be repaired.
Restaurants that you can see though completely, just barely holding on.
The devastation from Sandy is everywhere and little has been done.

We love the Jersey Shore,
and the hubs loves when we wear our matching sweatshirts!!

Please someone...help us!
Restore The Shore!!

Restoring seems to keep getting harder due to new building codes that are popping up. We have some relatives that have no idea when they will ever be able to move back into their homes :( BTW I love the matching sweatshirts!

It must be difficult, but will take time (and probably a long time if the government is involved). I hope you see some progress in the near future. Beautiful shots of the water!

It really is so sad. Hopefully, one day, it will all be restored. Beautiful shots.

It will be hard for me to see everything like that. I do love those sweatshirts.

That magnitude of loss must be devastating. Your images still show beauty though.

Oh Debbie this breaks my heart I wish there was a magic wand that could be waved and your beautiful Jersey Shore was returned to what it was. I know this is very hard on you. I think with all the red tape it may take awhile. I do hope those sweatshirts and their recognition works it magic.
Your photos are beautiful. I truly wish I could do more. Hugs B

Your smiles are keepers.

I saw a documentary on this a few weeks ago, Debbie, and could not believe how much damage was done. It is sad, indeed, BUT...you two make me smile!!!

I love looking for sea glass, but never find much. It's amazing the way nothing is being done for the Jersey Shore, and funding keeps getting held up. I just don't know what is wrong with our government right now.

The sweatshirts are really neat.

It takes a long time to recover from a storm. There are still very few houses on the Bolivar Peninsula. It was covered with homes until Ike washed all but one away.

I am sure patience is running out. It is a shame that things are moving so slow. Love your look-a-like duds!!!

I'm so sorry that it is taking so long to have recovery and restoration. I know it must be so hard. I love the way you and your husband are speaking out via your sweatshirts. Wonderful photos!

Having lived through a disaster ourselves (as you would know!) it just takes time and red tape and more time and more red tape...But you two have each other, and good neighbors and hopefully the rebuilding will start like the springtime!

I know I'm Word Press and you're Google, but I'm going to try and reblog this post in a few days. (If that's ok) Because I think it's an important statement told straight from the heart...

Debbie, your photos are lovely. But, it is so sad to hear that nothing is being done. I would think some will not be rebuilt if they were too close to the water? I hope the rebuilding starts soon, they will need help. I love the sweatshirts!

We had major flooding in Iowa in 2008 and the evidence is still with us. No matter how hard you work, the minute you let down your guard it smacks you. We found that if you had a job of any kind, the government money was a payback money, the free money went to the people who were retired, not working, etc. It'll be the same for you. But their "help" is so restrictive that it's hard to get things done right. It'll never be the same though, sorry, a hard lesson to accept. Yes, love your shirts!

When there is so much to do...where do you start? And how do you fund the "fix"? Hard questions with no easy answers. Your shirts are great!

Where can I get one of those Debbie Sweatshirts? :)

Blessings to you both!

It's a sad situation. The ocean is beautiful and live close to it has got to be a double edged sword. Can be wonderful or deadly. I really do hope the shore will be restored, but better this time.

Hi Debbie,
I feel so bad when I hear of the devastation. I hope that the damage is taken care of as soon as possible.
Love your matching sweatshirt :)
