A Close Encounter...

with an Emu.

And when I say close, I was this close!!
Chuck stayed in the car...he has no sense of adventure.

This is such an interesting looking character, don't you think??

I had beach pictures scheduled for today, I will share them tomorrow.

I needed something "Rural" so I could link up with
Rural Thurday Blog Hop
because I love Nancy and Lisa

When I asked Nancy if I could share beach pictures
she replied with profanity!! I kid you not!!

Boy oh boy, don't mess with those country girls!!

LOL on the beach pics. Emus are crazy looking birds. Last time we went to the zoo, Cort was terrified of them. You got some nice pics!

My Dad had six of them. We would stand and stare at them, then the moment changed for me. A nice little blue bird was flying over minding its own birdy business when a Emu jumped straight up in the air, snatched it out of the sky and all that was left was a couple of blue feathers drifting down to the ground. It shook that bird down its throat and that was that.
Me and my kids just stood and stared.
My youngest daughter said, " I don't think I like Emu's anymore."
I do like their eggs though, I mean to look at they are pretty.

He is gorgeous. Love it. I wish we could get that close to something around here besides dog and cats.
I am so happy you are feeling alot better and out and about.
Can't wait to see those beach pictures.

Sorry, I clicked on the anonymous button instead of my google account one.
Now my comment is under anonymous. Hopefully I will click on the right button tomorrow when you share the beach pictures.

Now that's a shady looking character with his freezy hair do...I bet he could put the fear of God in you if he came after you with that beak.......

Obviously, he liked you to let you photograph him so many times.....This was probably more fun taking these pictures than ones of the beach...What do you think?

In that first shot she seems to channeling nancy and lisa - giving you a no nonsense look! There is a little bit of crazy in that bird's eyes! I'll enjoy tomorrow's beach pics ;-)

He has no sense of adventure, hu? Nope, but I'd say he has a great sense of self-preservation though!

Eeeeeeek! Betcha' that guy could do a job on you, if he so wanted. Eeeeek!

"Love and a cottage" is an age-old dream.

I'm with Chuck, I'd stayed in the car too! Those creatures are crazy looking :)

An Emu huh, you have a lot more adventure in your soul than me. I would never have gotten that close. But I would have gotten out of the car! :) Great photos girlfriend!

PS: I changed it again. This time I'll leave it alone for awhile. I think.

Hi Deb, I have a lot of catching up to do! Great shots of the emu, but I really like your photo from the post before this one. You and Chuck look great and look like you're enjoying spring!

What terrific photos you got of the emu. My son had one "peck" on his head when he got to close one time. It pays to "keep your distance". Have a great weekend. Mickie:)

Me? Use profanity? I think you are mistaken, missie. Lol.

You are adventurous -- this guy looks a little dangerous to me.

Great shots Debbie and I do appreciate you sharing at Rural Thursday. :) Have a great Friday.

Looks like your Emus are as vain as ours over here - they just adore having their photo taken !!
