The Osprey have returned to the Jersey Shore.
Every year, during the same time, in the same nest...they return to mate and raise their young.
Their home is a large nest by the train station in Spring Lake, they return to it every year.
An employee from the nature center told us they always return on St. Patrick's Day,
but I was not able to confirm that on Google.
Google says they arrive in New Jersey in late March to early April.
New Jersey has more than 800 man made platform nests and it is estimated that more than 75% of these nests are being used.
The once endangered Osprey is not only stable now, but thriving, we see a lot of nests while we are out.
I believe this is a female because of the brown "necklace" on her chest.
Males chests are primarily white.
She was very focused waiting on her partner...
and guarding the nest.
This picture is from last year, showing the nest and family of 4.
Osprey usually have 2 ospring.
While on Google I found this Live Osprey Cam that I enjoyed watching, I hope the link works.

How special this is for the birds and the people.....
Beautiful! We don’t see them here for another six weeks or so.
Nice to take care of the birdies. Linda in Kansas
Hello Debbie,
Awesome photos of the Osprey! They are a treat to see when they return for the summer. I pass an Osprey nest along the road to my son's home in Pennsylvania, I thought it was an early sighting. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter and post. Take care, have a great day and happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
I especially enjoyed today's pictures because I love the osprey birds too! They have fierce faces and I love seeing their big nests!
They have a camera on a nest here. It is very interesting.

Fine pics of these wonderful birds. It is good to see their populations coming back.
Wow. Great shots! #SaturdayCritters
Beautiful images, Debbie, and we remember the osprey we would also see at the Jersey shore and also when we lived in VA on the eastern shore.
Wonderful photographs of the Osprey.
All the best Jan

Hi Debbie :)
Wonderful sharp images of the Osprey. I have never really seen one close up before. Thanks for also sharing last years photo and the chicks and both parents in the nest.
All the best.
Sonjia.
The osprey is one of many success stories of our times. When I was younger, we rarely saw turkey, deer or geese, now all are quite abundant!
Hi Debbie, excellent photos of the osprey. I love them. Greets
So neat that you can go back to the same place to see them year after year. You got some great pics of her, she is a beauty!
