Out On A Limb

This was a first for me...
driving around Spring Lake I saw a pair of Mallards hanging out on a broken piece of tree.

Can you see them?
They looked so out of place, but maybe this is a habit of theirs.

Male Mallard

Female Mallard
I think they were "together"...if you know what I mean.

And this Red Winged Blackbird, found a branch of its own.
Belting out its song for everyone around the lake to hear.
Yesterday was a beautiful day, the sky was so blue, the sun was beaming brightly
and the temperatures were in the 60's.
It seems all the winter ducks and birds have left...
but
the Osprey are back, I will share pictures of them tomorrow!

Lovely capture of the mallards and I certainly wouldn't be looking up in a tree to find them. Great catch! Lovely to see the Red-winged blackbird too with that pretty blue sky as a backdrop. Super photos and I will look forward to your Osprey pics. Have a great weekend Debbie :)

You don't often see them up in a tree, do you?

The blackbird picture is stunning! Love their bright splash of color against the black. Beautiful sky in the picture too. Happy Friday!

I remember the first time I saw a cormorant in a tree. I was mesmerized. I have never seen ducks in trees. Great capture and thanks for sharing.

Hello,
Love the Mallard photos. I have seen the wood ducks sitting in the trees near our fire road trail and the reservoir. The Red-winged blackbird image is lovely. Take care, have a great day and happy weekend.

The only Mallards I have seen have been close to or in the water and so I wondered if there was any nearby for this pair...or maybe they were out for a wander. 😀

It is funny where they hang out, our friends took pictures of geese on their roof :)
