Saturday Critters #587

It was a gloomy day but we were in the area of
Lake of the Lilies
and decided to take a drive around.
I could have sworn I heard the Red Winged Blackbird, but I was sure it was too soon in the season for them to have returned.
Driving a little further on, I heard it again....
could it be that they have returned to the lake and are singing their welcoming song to me?
They are here, and as always, I heard them before I saw them.
I saw 6 of the lovely birds, captured at least 50 images, and only have 2 pictures that are worth sharing.

The Red Winged BlackBirds are back.

And many thanks to my loving husband who gave me the flu!

There is nothing more beautiful than the sound of a red winged black bird. Great photos.

Love those blackbirds. They have returned to the island too, but we haven’t seen them yet. Great photos, as always, Debbie.

There is nothing like the song of the red-wing blackbird and the chirp of the robin to signify spring! Love your pictures!

Love your shots. I haven't heard a Red-winged Blackbird yet but that always means spring to me so I hope I do hear them soon. Have been hearing Robins though.

Beautiful pictures Debbie! GET WELL SOON. I got that awful flu and I was on the bed for a week and still pretty sick the next week as well. I gave it to Mr Front Porch too, we were both so sick. Feel better soon, hugs

Oh dear, say it ain’t so! Very sorry you caught the flu. Feel better soon! Your photos are a delight! The red-wing blackbird is a favorite of mine. It was one of the first bird calls I recognized.

Beautiful pics, Debbie. We've been getting so many in our yard lately; Cardinals, Bluejays, finches, sparrows, and wood peckers. And lately we've seen some tiny birds that we haven't identified yet.
