Fort Hancock

 Fort Hancock
is a former United States Army Fort at Sandy Hook in Middletown Township, New Jersey.
The Coastal Artillery Base defended the atlantic coast and the entrance to the New York Harbor,
with it's first gun batteries operational in 1896.

There are a lot of pictures from back in the day here and a bit more information here.

We spotted this huge birds nest on top of this old chimney.

Nice tour of the Fort Hancock. The house looks like a haunted house, that is a neat birds nest. Pretty view of the bay. Take care, enjoy your day and the weekend!

So much history here and the buildings were fascinating. That nest is huge, do you think it might be a eagle's nest? So glad you have been able to be out and about and sharing with us.

Oh wow that needs a little attention doesn't it, so sad to see when things start to get run down, let's you use your imagination to how it may have looked in the day. That is one big nest on top of the chimney isn't it. Quite the view from their isn't it!

Gorgeous, interesting photos. I wonder if that's a stork's nest.

I love those old buildings! I'm assuming they are not maintained in any way. It's fun to see old military installations like that. Lots of history.
