The Egret Explosion

Saturday, was the explosion of Egrets...everywhere we went, we saw Egrets.

A total of three at this lake, in Spring Lake, this one was really interested in posing for pictures!

I was surprised to see this Egret up on the grass. They are usually found in the water fishing. Crossing over a bridge on the way home, I counted seven Egrets in the water below us. There was no shoulder or safe area to pull over, so no pictures of them...but don't think for one minute, I wasn't thinking about a safe way to pull it off.

The hubs said, "it's not happening".

Pictured here is a Great White Egret, seen in New Jersey only during the summer.

It is a stately, pure white, heron like bird that uses its dagger like bill to capture prey.

Beautiful! I've always wondered how they're able to catch anything being so bright white. Perhaps the view is different from a fish's perspective.

Debbie, I laughed at what your hubby said. He must know you pretty well. :):) Gert over at Gert, Tom and Rusty...her husband Tom used to go back around for her to get some good photos. Tom and Rusty(doggie) are gone to heaven now. I always thought that was the sweetest things for Tom to do. I love how very white the egrets are. Their legs look like sticks. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Gorgeous shots of these majestic birds. I sometimes get the same reaction from hubby when I would just love to take a photo :) They keep us safe.

That water IS SO BLUE!! and that bird is so white!! Such pretty pretty pictures. Thanks for telling me about the hummingbirds, seems like it was along about this time last year that they mysteriously left us......I missed them so much but I knew they were on their long long journey. And just like clock work....this summer, they came "home". I love watching them.

Fabulous pictures, I just love the wings in the last photo, way too cool! They sure look very confident don't they. You know you have to get a camera like Greg does that is great for shooting outside a moving vehicle, he has me drive and he can get pics of places we can't pull over :)

They are majestic. Great summer visitors (probably the same ones we see in Florida!)

They are a gorgeous bird. You got some great photos of this one. My favorite is the 2nd one, I love how their neck curves.

Debbie - what a majestic bird! And magically framed against the blue water. Glad we have our hubbies to keep us safe from our ever-vigilant pursuit of THE photo!
