Lions And Tigers And Bears, Oh My

As you may already know,
this past Tuesday, we went to Great Adventure to drive through the Safari.
We took our time,
drove extra slow and made sure we did not miss any of the animals.
Of course I took way too many pictures for one post...
Today, I'll share the Lions, Tigers and Bears...

There were only a few Black Bears...

but there were a lot of Brown Bears!

- they had plenty of water to swim in, a lot of them went in to cool off -

- here you can see his teeth -

This White Tiger was at the end of this area, a regal beauty, it was looking straight at me.
The White Tiger or bleached tiger is a pigmentation variant of the Bengal Tiger.
White tigers are not albinos.
They're simply tigers born with white fur. White fur is a very rare genetic mutation.
It occurs in the wild in possibly as few as 1 in 10,000 wild tiger births.

Six Flags Great Adventure is in Jackson, NJ, I highly recommend this drive through the safari.
Are there more pictures you ask? of course there are more...
I'll share the rest of the pictures later in the week!

  1. Whoa that is up close and personal:) Beautiful creatures.

  2. What fun to see all those big cats and the bears. Many years ago, there were two white tigers in a fenced in area near where I worked. It was right beside the 7-11 store. I often wondered how people in a residential area could have wild tigers. They are no longer there. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie

  3. The 'cats' really are gorgeous, aren't they! I saw a white tiger at Myrtle Beach a couple of times. It was huge and you could get your photo taken with it! EEEEE!!! Love your photos of these big animals. I mentioned you on my blog today! You'll have to come and see why! lol HUGS!!!

  4. Hello, wonderful critters and photos. I love the lions, tigers and bears! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy new week!

  5. Really great photos. Love the curious looks you captured.

  7. So beautiful! Just looked at them all with my little grandson and he loved it! Hugs xo Karen

  8. Just a wonderful collection of photographs Debbie … what a great outing.

    All the best Jan

  9. Im so glad your pool is ready and open, so glad you got to enjoy it!! Is it very warm there and is the water warm yet or is it heated? Yes, I got married on my birthday. So we celebrate double every year!! ha ha LOL YOu made some great pictures of these BIG CATS!!!!!!!!!!

  10. Oh, Debbie, This is an amazing adventure and your animal photos are spectacular. The last one is magnificent. You are just such an amazing photographer. This does look like a great Safari.
    Sending loving thoughts and hugs!

  11. Beautiful animals! We would have to drive well over an hour to see critters like this. It appears this place allows for good views unlike some zoos I've visited.

  12. Oh I love the cats, so pretty, the white ones always look so regal for some reason. I saw my first black bear in the wild when we lived in New Jersey, we went camping in Northern Jersey and we were driving to the lake and in the woods we saw him, stopped the car and just watched him for awhile. Looks like they enjoyed the swim :)
