Sunday, Funday!!!

I've always been so happy that Fathers Day is celebrated on a Sunday...
It can always be a "Sunday Fun Day"...
also known as Family Fun Day.

Last Sunday was Fathers Day,
and neither of our sons were able to come for a visit!!
We missed the boys but are getting really good at making our own fun.

Living at the Jersey Shore makes that very easy.

There was a special late lunch out at Sirena's,
that's where we have a table by the window, with a view of the ocean.

 Pasta...

meatballs and some of the best bread on earth.

We rode the bikes along the dedicated bike path,
with a view of Long Branches best beaches.

Some ice cream at Bite Your Belgium...
and then off to near by Asbury Park,

for some pedal boat fun on Wesley Lake!

 This is a good time!!
It was around 6 p.m., the sun was starting to climb down the horizon,
a cool breeze came in off the ocean and the lake was like a sheet of glass.

I selected the blue heron for us to ride,

Ocean Grove, pictured here, is on one side of the lake,
Asbury Park is on the other.

The Asbury Park Board Walk can be seen in this image,
way off in the distance.

Here's another look at our Blue Heron,
and more of Ocean Grove in the backdrop.

I cannot believe they are still there! When I was very young, my mother and I would go to Newberry's Department Store and then watch the "swans". They were only white then. Who knew they'd grow up to be pink and blue! Ha-ha!

I tell ya, NOTHING looks like the Jersey Shore. As beautiful as other beach/bay areas are, nothing looks like NJ. Or maybe i just have a visceral reaction to it because it was home for 42 years. Sigh.

Looks like a great day!! Is Ocean Grove the town that used to be chained off on Sundays, in order for the 'blue laws' to take place?

It's true, isn't it? I often think about kids who are overseas, or across the country (like my middle son). We were happy to move to be closer to our granddaughters. It has paid off while they are young!

Y'all are so much fun! That blue heron was perfect. I can't see your hubby riding in a pink flamingo on Father's Day, lol. Good choice on the blue. :)
