For What It's Worth...

I read an article a few days ago, about Blogs, Facebook, Instagram, and all other social media...
much of which I know nothing about.
It was written with the assumption that the parts of peoples lives that they share on
social media are glossed over or not really factual.
That article inspired me to write this post, which is sure to be a bit too wordy,
but something I wanted to write about.
When you visit with me here, what I write about is what I am living.
I have "occasionally" left out the "Debbie Downer" parts about my health,
but I have never made it better than it really is.
I am a 63 year old woman living with multiple sclerosis but my life rich, very full.
I have a great marriage, I love the hubs...
I love nature and I really love creating anything with my hands.
I enjoy cooking, baking and sometimes I enjoy cleaning my beautiful, too large home.
I am an organizer and enjoy a good project around the house.
I adore my sons, I have 2, one likes me more than the other, since this is about being truthful.

Have I left anything out?
ooooops - I love my friends and family, I love my brother and sister, and I adore my nieces and nephews,
and my great nieces and nephews too, maybe more.
We "enjoy" all of the regular bits of disfunction that most families do,
but honestly when we are all together we have a lot of fun and enjoy the time with each other.

Here I am, telling my story!

All that to say, this blog is real, my words are truthful, this is my life through my eyes.
And another thing, this field was filled with open sunflowers,
they don't show in the picture!

I can't believe I remembered to wear the sunflower scarf!

What a perfectly beautiful post...and you are too! I may do this. I don't share as much on my blog any more but I have a full life too. I have parts of it that don't work as well and I don't share those! lol But I am like you....very blessed and happy with what I have! Sweet hugs! The sunflowers must be facing the sun...it sure is beautiful there.

I think I understand where the author is coming from. Those like you are in the minority. I saw a poll the other days which asked if you leave social media happier or sadder and the majority said sadder. I do not feel that way but I can understand that most people take pictures of staged living rooms, and only perfect meals and glammed up selfies. They don't share the mess that exists behind the camera and give the impression that they have it all figured out.
I am always attracted to the blogs and social media accounts that keep it real. So you just keep on doing you. Take care.
ps. don't forget to vote! it's an important one for our state.

Hello Debbie,
I have always thought you to be an honest down to earth blogger. Love the fields of sunflowers, cute photo. I am not sure why anyone would make up things or pretend to live differently. That is weird. I do not post personal things but I would never make up a life I do not experience. Take care, have a great week!

Debbie I often read your blog but never comment. Introvert is my middle name, but your post resonated with me, and I felt the need to comment. Yes, too often blog posts are all light and airy with picture perfect photos that can't be "real". It's a mirage and sad in a way. I like to think being truthful about whatever the topic is better than pretending perfection. Thank you for sharing your story! AND you take beautiful photos. I love seeing them.

Thanks for keeping it real. I try to do that as well, yet still not burden people down with my sometimes foul moods.

I too liked this post, Debbie. And my posts are true too for the most part. I'm not likely to say that I spent one day all day in bed with a migraine... what's the interest in that? (a day wasted in my eyes... although I have to say that when it's gone, how much one appreciates feeling good again) As for some media... (Facebook for one) I have to admit that I hardly ever post there except to say Happy Whatever! to family in other states. And reading some of the things posted by others (especially concerning politics or Covid) makes me so sad that people can say (or even believe) such things. But in general, I enjoy reading blogs... just posts about everyday life in different places for different people. And I do enjoy yours!

Hello Debby, I love your post. I have always thought you are a "real" person. I don't bother with blogs I feel are fake. Blogging is all the social media I do. I'm not on Face Book because of the negativity and to me, meaningless falsehoods. Your words are loving and true, and I'm glad you mentioned your Sunflower scarf, I thought it was! :=)

I do think there are people that gloss things over a bit, but usually you can tell.
You are a very positive person and I like how you roll with things and just love nature and all God has blessed us with and are appreciative of it too :)
