Saturday Critters ~ 368 ~

This is our first Saturday Critters for the New Year.
Many thanks to our gracious host Eileen, who has been at it a long time,
368 times as a matter of fact!

I forgot it was Saturday until I asked the hubs 3 times, he will say I asked 5, and he might be right.
I had these pictures of a Mockingbird I took on December 19th...
I don't usually share pictures of the birds on the feeders, I prefer photographing them in the trees.
But, I happen to be hanging out the window, camera pointed at the tree,
when this brazen Mockingbird landed on and ate from the suet right beside me and would not fly off.

Such an unusual event and with such a beautiful bird,
I turned the camera on it and thought it would fly right off.
It didn't.
I was only about 8 feet away from this beautiful Mockingbird when I took these pictures.

It finally flew off after a few minutes and our deep conversation!

Hello, Debbie

The Mockingbird is beautiful. I have never seen one that close except through my windows. I wish I had more tree and bushes near my windows for the bird photos, most of my birds are seen on the feeders. I think you have linked on those Saturday critter parties. Thank you, I always enjoy your photos. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, stay safe! Have a happy weekend! PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

What a special visit you had with the mockingbird! That’s one of our favorites! We have one at the ranch and he sits on top of the power pole and sings his heart out! I count how many different calls he makes in one song set - sometimes more than a dozen! They live about 8 years in the wild so we call him ‘our’ mockingbird! Of course we have lots of them here at our city home but only one at the ranch!
I could just keep on looking at these photos! Beautiful!

Happy New Year Debbie :=) I loose track of the days too, I just wanted to say thankyou for your kind well wishes two years ago. I am better now, and will be back blogging soon.

Your captures are lovely. We don't see Mocking Birds here, but I would certainly have not let the opportunity of photographing such a beautiful bird go by, even if it was on a feeder.
Take care.

Debbie, that first pic of the mockingbird looks like he's saying, "You don't scare me! I'm hungry!"

I too has a once in a lifetime bird experience. My hummingbird feeder is next to my office window and we have a dark screen on it so the birds can't see me but I can see them. I had a beautiful male woodpecker land on the feeder and he called his female mate and she came and landed with him and they drank from the feeder. The poor hummingbird didn't know what to think of it.

Wow, those are great shots of the Mockingbird. He does look like he is enjoying the feeder. We continue to have small and then the large Mourning doves coming to ours. It does bring us much joy. We hope to get some good pictures one day.
Blessings and hugs!
