Christmas Baking

I know these cookies won't last until Christmas...but I made them anyway.
When we drive around to look at Christmas lights, hot chocolate and Christmas cookies are required.

Sunday, I made simple butter cookies with only a few ingredients.
This is my mom's recipe, I grew up making these, we rolled the dough out and used cookie cutters.
I have my mom's cookie cutters, but I use a cookie press because it is so much easier.

Here they are, ready for the oven.
I cook them 7minutes and they come out perfectly.

I don't own cooling racks,
I have always cooled them on aluminum foil.
They look darker on the foil, but they came out really good.

This is my favorite cookie jar,
I like that it is glass and you can see the cookies inside.

Debbie, you cookies look (and I'll bet taste) great! Recipe is similar to my tea cakes which are a traditional bake here.

Debbie, those cookies look delicious. Thank you for the recipe; it does look like a good one to try. I must start making goodies soon. I do think cookies and hot chocolate go together.
Thanks you for your lovely comments on my blog. I continue to enjoy our blogging friendship. I really love you girl and I am grateful for the things, I learn from you. We have enjoyed our bird feeder so much. We can't get photos of them quite as beautiful as yours but we love having them in our yard. That's all because of you. You were my inspiration for a patio garden and many other things. I love your projects and hope at some point to do some; especially the knitting, and crocheting ones.
Thanks, with love,
LeAnn

My sister used to make those cookies and send them to me in a care package. Thanks for the memory.

Thanks for sharing your Mom's recipe Debbie. They all look lovely and especially inviting in your festive jar. I also was very interested in how you cool on foil rather than racks! Something I shall also do (lol, instead of the usual 'fight' to pull racks out of the bottom of the cupboard ... entangled with others).
Sorry I haven't been around very much of late, but will catch up in the New Year.
Be well, be safe and keep being Merry, warmest regards, Sue xx

I think I have that same press, my hubby loves these, I like your tradition of having hot cocoa and cookies while you look at lights, we came home in the dark after going to a park over in Missouri last night so we were able to see many town light displays as we traveled home, sure made the trip go fast :)
