A Day In The Life...

Have you visited a hospital lately?
If you answered yes, were you the patient or a visitor?
I recently spent a week as an in-patient in my favorite hospital...
and I have a few tips and tricks to share with those that may be interested.

If you want a room in the emergency room right away, travel by ambulance.
Even if you only need a few stitches, traveling by ambulance is the way to go.
You'll get pushed to the front of the line, and bypass all those laying in the hallway.
This is frustrating to those laying in the hallway with a 103 temperature,
in excruciating pain - that was me.
Eat all you want and don't plan on losing any weight if you don't eat.
After not eating for three days, if you are lucky like me,
* sarcastic tone *
you will only gain 3 pounds.
If you don't think you should take the pills the nurse is trying to give you, don't take them,
you could end up in the Critical Care Unit.
If you never start your bed bath, no one will come to see you.
If you start it,
the entire world, including your doctor, will visit for sure.
You are right when you think that the physical therapist is way too happy,
that the food sucks and that there is no place like home.

I have been home for a week and I am definitely feeling better.
The kidney infection and fevers are gone and the shingles are better,
but boy are they painful!

and the butterflies just keep coming...I have lost count but I can figure it out.
I'll keep you all posted!

Welcome home. I am glad the butterflies are there to greet you. Your experience with the hospital sounds quite dreadful.

Hello, I am sorry you were so sick, I do hope you are recovering. I have visited my sister in the hospital since she broke her leg, she is not happy there. I have heard nightmares about the shingles, they are very painful. Love the beautiful butterfly! Take care and I wish you a happy day and weekend!

I'm glad you are home and starting to feel better! I hate hospitals, doctors' offices, clinics, etc. Necessary, but I still don't like them. I hope you are fully recovered soon! The butterflies obviously didn't wait for you. LOL!

I have been thinking about you and thought maybe you were on vacation...not a very good one from the sounds of it. You poor dear! I'm so sorry you've been so sick and I know you feel better now that you are at home to rest! What an ordeal!!! Take care of yourself. Lots and lots of hugs, Diane

Oh Debbie I am so sorry to hear all that you went through, and to have both at the same time, what is that all about.... I guess get them all over at the same time? I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better and I so agree, there is just no place like home when you are feeling crappy. Greg just took a picture of the same type of butterfly yesterday when we were out on our walk, he was so excited that it stood still long enough for him to take a picture :)
You take care and feel much better soon, good to hear from you :)

Debbie, it is so good to read you again! I am glad you recovered so quickly. Take it easy for a while. You don’t want a repeat of that visit!

I am so glad you are home now. I hope now you can get back on the road to your happy place. It is never fun to be sick. I like your observations. I always gain weight too when I don't eat.
That is a beautiful butterfly. I am so glad you were able to get a picture.
I hope your shingles go away fast.

A double whammy....how horrible for you. Your insights to a week in hospital did make me smile. I am sorry you had to go through all that. It would feel like heaven to be home again. Take it easy, Debbie. I look forward to visiting soon and being amazed by your photos of your sweet critters.

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry for all you've gone through and are going through. Yikes! Thank goodness I recently got my Shingrix shots. And a kidney infection on top of that. Yikes! I'm wishing you a speedy 100% recovery.

Oh nooooo - that sounds like a terrible experience, I’m so glad you’re home. I have heard that about the ambulance. It’s unusual that I hear anything (and I mean even the smallest thing) positive about emergency rooms. You have a great sense of humor, but I suspect there wasn’t really anything funny about this. I hope you’re on the mend!

Oh my dear friend, you have been in some major pain with kidney infection and those horrible shingles. I'm sad you had to go through all this. I enjoyed your critique of the hospitals of today. I really think things were better when I was in nursing; how about you?
well, as I think about it; a few of the things haven't changed.
Praying that all is well now.
Sending loving thoughts, blessings and hugs your way!
