The Backdoor Garage - Classic Cars

Every story has a story...
We were out and about on Friday, breakfast at Marigold was up first.
More on that meal tomorrow.
After we ate, we had a few "serious" errands to run, you know, work related.
I came for the ride with the promise of breakfast,
and the thought of knowing I would keep the hubs company during his boring running around.
Driving on a road we drive on all the time,
passing an unassuming building we pass all the time...the hubs saw it.
The garage door was open, and inside...classic cars for as far as the eyes could see.

He didn't have to be asked,
he knew he was going to spin the car around.
It meant we would be late for an appointment but he didn't seem to care,
he was interested too!!

Well folks, that building was filled with a treasure trove of cars, classic cars and epic stories.
Look what we found...

The store fronts constructed behind the cars have significant meaning to the car in front of it.
The mechanic was on site working, he took us around and explained all the details to us.

1929 Duisenberg J. Convertible Sedan by Murphy,
this vehicle is valued at 2.5 million dollars.

Ford Pick Up

1935 Auburn 851

The Elegance at Hershey
1933 Pierce-Arrow Sports Coupe

1933 Lincoln KB Convertible Sedan by Dietrich

1939 Laguna V-12 Drophead Coupe

Inside is also decorated like this...

The first few paragraphs are as follows
"Driving past Route 71 and Brooklyn Boulevard in Sea Girt, those passing by may spot a large building nestled behind the local business Total Hearing Care.
Garage doors wide open on either side, people often ask with childlike wonder,
is it a business, a museum, a movie set?
Curious minds are invited to come inside and take a look around.
Welcome to the Backdoor Garage,
where visitors are transported back into time.
A time when people enjoyed relaxing on their porches with good friends or having conversations at the counter over old-fashioned ice cream sodas.
It's also a time of Hollywood glamor and romance, and of course, classic cars".

Oh, my! I'm not a car enthusiast in the sense of knowing much about older/classic vehicles, but I really appreciate the style and beauty of the classics. These are awesome and obviously there's a LOT of money sitting there!

I would love to see these! One of my favorite things to see in old movies are the cars...and the trains! What a fun place to visit. LOTS of stories attached to these cars, I'm sure. I can remember every car I've ever had...none quite this old though! hahahaha! Hugs!

ditto, i know nothing really!! all i know is that when i see them, i am overcome with a feeling of nostalgia. it is the style, the beauty, the shine...the connection to another time and place. the restoration of these vehicles to what they were in their heyday, that takes dedication and love, i connect with that!!!

this garage was just so amazing, every single thing about it. and for me, it has nothing to do with money. but i will say i was floored when he said 2.5 million for the duisenberg, i would have never guessed that!! all i can say is wow. beautiful place, a wonderfully kind man and some really classy cars!!!

That little stop looks like such a fun one. I really love that era. Partly because, my brothers were born in the 30’s and I in the 40’s. I love classic cars. The Red cars and the Red truck are my favorites. I have always wanted a red car. Probably won’t happen in my life time. We bought our first car as Senior’s in High School for $160. It was a 52 two toned Chev. We loved that car. When he left on his mission, I got it. It lasted until he got home and then he got a VW. Great memories and we wish we had kept that car now.
Anyway, thanks for the memories that came when looking at these beauties. Blessings and hugs!

Oh wow.....of course you had to 'pop' in. The 1939 Laguna V-12 Drophead Coupe for me thank you very much....but then I rather love the red Ford pick up truck. How fabulous would that be as a prop filled with bright and happy quilts. Debbie, you and your husband really do have the best fun.

wow that is some gorgeous vehicles, I love the red truck, how neat that he invites people to come in and look at all the hard work he has done, not only with all the cars but the store fronts and everything else to, so amazing! Don't you just love when the unexpected happens like that :)
