The New York Sheep & Wool Festival

- Day One of the Festival -

It was such a beautiful day,

the air was crisp and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue.

We arrived early, 9 a.m.-ish and the crowds were huge.
We heard 30,000 people but I would believe there were more.
Everyone is kind and polite but let me tell you knitters are serious shoppers.
I was not able to get near the yarn...not even to touch it,
I found a spot in the corner and waited for my girls.

Ms. Babs Booth...

If you wanted to purchase yarn, this was the line.
Outside, down to the tree and then to the left, it was long.

The booth displays were extraordinarily beautiful - so well designed.

This one was a favorite and I bought several trinkets here.

There was a lot of yarn, gorgeous yarn...

bags and books...

and lot's of clever shop names.

1 p.m. is "Meet & Greet" up on the hill.

This is where you meet the "famous" people/knitters!
Yep...some are famous, don't worry...I had no idea either.
We headed back to the house around 3 p.m....
we sat on our beautiful deck, we talked, we laughed, we knitted.

Day two tomorrow!!

Some serious woolly gorgeousness to be seen there. I am afraid quite a lot of cash would have been emptied from my purse if I was there. Love all that dyed variegated wool. Oh, that tree in the first photo....amazing!!

It sounds like a wonderful experience, except for the lines. I would not wait in line for a product either, Debbie, though the browsing would be fabulous!

And what beautiful weather!!!

Yes, I think my daughter is kind-of-famous, too. :-) At least, her podcasts are well received.

Not being a knitter, I know nothing about any of this, though.

That looks like a beautiful venue! I don't know that I could handle the crowd and lines but the rest of it looks like heaven. I'm so glad you had a good time!

I never knew there WAS SUCH A THING! as this! I learn so much from blogging, don't you?---so fun! Your pictures make it seem like we are really there with you. Some really pretty yarn there! I have never seen people stand in line to buy yarn, that is so neat! Looks like y'all had perfect weather and that house y'all stayed in was so warm and homey and so pretty.

That is one popular event! I had no idea. I bet if you had announced who you were you could have had your pick of yarn! ;-)

I can so imagine why you and your girls really enjoyed yourselves. Even non-crafters would have, such a well organised event.
Love all your people photos Debbie, I loved finding everyone wearing handknits or crafts ... I even saw someone with a pretty shawl similar to one our dear daughter crocheted for me. Only thing were those long lines - I think I too would have found a corner to sit and wait (and people-watch)! Lovely post :D) xx
