Saturday Critters ~ 21 ~

On April 6th, I put some black oil sunflower seeds on the peanut "platter".
I was hoping to attract and feed some of my smaller birds.
The peanut "platter" really belongs to the Blue Jays,
I always fill that up with peanuts for them.

The Jays came that day and they looked somewhat baffled...

What in the word is this??

What's it doing on my "platter"...
and how am I suppose to fill my belly with it??

There was a little squealing..."umm Debbie, have you lost your mind"??

But in the end, he made due!!

This is what they prefer, this clever guy had three peanuts
lined up in his beak.
He leaves with nothing less then three, two in the beak,
and one in the chamber!

I am super excited to be joining in with Eileen over at
for Saturday Critters.
Stop by and consider joining in, any critter will do!!

That's funny Debbie, He does look a bit confused. I'm always amazed at how much they can stuff into their beaks. The crows out front come get peanuts (in the shell) and one has been known to grab 2-3 and fly off with them in its beak. Pig!

Ahhh... I love these series of photos, Mr. Blue Jay is is looking right at me! 3 peanuts??? in that tiny beak? I am so happy to be back home and access to the internet, I have missed visiting and getting my "Debbie" photos and recipes. Your photography is just so amazing, its the same as being there. You make me feel as though I am there, holding the camera, seeing it for myself. Love it, Debbie!

Beautiful pictures of this equally beautiful bird. They do love the peanuts, though - and I love how they line them up in their beak. We don't have Blue Jays here but Scrub Jays, and they behave very similar. There are actually Scrub Jays nesting in the bush at our office window.

I usually give them peanuts in the shell. It sort of slows them down!!!!
Great photos.

It looks like there is a sign visible only to the blue jay on the platter,

"for Blue Jays only".

Great shots and you are right, Mr. Jay does look baffled.

Awesome photos! You're confusing the poor birds.

He really did look baffled! You got some great shots of these beautiful birds. We enjoyed blue jays in Vermont for a couple months, but I had to bring the peanut feeders in now that the bears are coming out of hibernation. I think the jays are none to happy with me...

I love the Blue Jays, they can be noisy and a bit bossy, but to me they are fun to watch. Great photos Debbie!

Your birds are such a part of your family--they can even complain about the food being served. lol

Oh my gosh, this was so funny. Their confused expressions certainly seemed to go with the problem at hand. Love it!
