Washington, Day 1!!

The hubs and I traveled to Washington, D.C.,
for the Cherry Blossom Festival.
Here are a few pictures from Thursday, the day we arrived!

Of course Washington always involves a trip to The Peeps Store,
and posing for pictures in front of the cool peeps car.

It was gorgeous in D.C. when we arrived.
The temperatures were in the upper 60's and the sky was a beautiful blue.

A pretty spot on the National Harbour...

and a pretty weeping willow or maybe a weeping cherry tree.

There was a little of this...

and a lot of fun shopping here!!

I'll be sharing lots more pictures of the Cherry Blossoms tomorrow!

  8. I haven't been to DC in years... and it's less than 90 minutes away if traffic is decent, but that's rare.

  16. This is a great post and so funny Debbie, we drove by here over the bridge on our wide loop out of the city, and saw the Ferris Wheel!!! A great idea to stay in the city and hire a car. As we had our 93 year old father-in-law it's why we didn't use the metro - bedlam anyhow from memories of riding it a couple of years back - and as we live so close to the city - 25 miles - we decided to drive in. We had tickets to the ceremony but to tell you the truth, we forgot it was the Cherry Blossom Parade that day. Hubby dropped us off and found a parking lot a few blocks away. He got his exercise that day :)

  18. Just was looking at Denise's post (An English Girl Rambles) about the Navy Ceremony honoring the Coast Guard's 222nd Anniversary there in D.C. She mentioned the crowds were HUGE because the Cherry Blossom Festival was going on! Pop over there and see some of D.C. you missed.:-) Between your two blogs, I made a great trip there without having a single traffic jam! :-) Loved this...such wonderful weather. Looks like you had a great weekend!
