Seaside by the Seashore

My favorite Sister and my bestest Aunt came for a visit this past weekend.
My cousin David came also, what a neat surprise.
We had a wonderful time.
Did I take lot's of pictures you ask, NO!

Have you ever noticed that when you are having
a lot of fun, you forget to take pictures.

We drove down to Seaside, to see how things are
coming along since Super Storm Sandy.

I can't/won't take pictures of people's personal homes,
the devastation evident everywhere, would bring you to your knees.
Unfortunately, not much has changed since the storm hit on
October 29, 2012.

I spent my summers here in Seaside Heights at Funtown Pier.
My grandparents lived in Seaside Park, so most of my summer memories are here.
It's so sad that most of this Pier is gone.

The Casino Pier survived, looking as stately as ever!

Oh Debbie I am so happy you had time with family and I truly wish your precious Jersey Shore was back to normal.
I always forget to take photos when I am with special family and having fun. Hug B

Hi Debbie...Your not alone..we always say afterwards "darn" we didn't take any pictures!!
Hard to imagine the fury of a storm like Sandy!! It takes what it wants and has no mercy on what it does!!
Things will never be the same, but you have your wonderful memories, and that can't be taken from you!!

Happy you had such a wonderful time with your family :). And I too am sad that the restoration is moving so slowly. Those poor people have had a lot to deal with.

I'm so sorry to hear that recovery efforts are not moving along. You did get some pretty pictures.

Glad you had some wonderful times with your sis and aunt!! Oh well, you can take photos another time! I just can't imagine the damage Sandy has left in her wake; and months later, the shore is still not restored.

Sandy was devastating. I did see on the news that Coney Island reopened. But I think it is more important that people get their houses back.

I definitely have noticed this, Debbie (forgetting about my camera), and it is just fine with me. It looks like you had a wonderful time with your family.

I hope you're having a great day!

It's sad. I grew up going to the shore every year. I lived in Lavallette for eight years, and my kids have grown up going to the shore. None of us can bear to see what has happened, and I can't believe how nothing much has been done.

On the happier side, I'm glad you had fun with family. My sister and I are going to visit our parents in NC this week, and I'm hoping I will get some photos, but like you said... when you're having fun, you just forget!

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself! When you're having too much fun to take photos, then you'll have the wonderful memories instead.

So sorry that the recovery isn't moving along. It must be so frustrating.

what breaks my heart Debbie is why suddenly we have moved on to other news (on the tv) ... why aren't we talking about that area any more? what can we do to help? why does news do that? we need to be help our own 1st. makes no sense. ( :

my parents work for the Nomads it is through the United Methodist Church ... makes me wonder if there are folks in your area work from that organization? volunteer. they go in & rebuild & get things working again. i will have to ask my parents. not sure.

glad you had time with your family. ( :

Debbie, it is nice to have great family time! It is sad that the repairs are not happening more quickly. I can just imagine how you feel since you grew up there. I do pray things move along and get back to normal.

Darn it. Of course all the cool old buildings get destroyed, but the ugly casino makes it. Ugh.

Sounds like a great weekend. I too forget to get the camera out, or the battery isn't charged. Oh well, a mental picture works too!

What a fascinating place to go, and how neat you had visitors! I bet it was great to see them again! I loved your photos, but am so sorry to hear about all the still-evident devastation from the Super Storm. It just doesn't make sense! So awful!
