The winter ducks have returned to New Jersey to keep us entertained during these long cold months.
I am seeing my favorites in most of the lakes we visit although most swim far beyond my lens.
But once in a while I get lucky and they are close to the shoreline,
and even if the lighting is bad, I snap away.
I usually see the Buffleheads first...then I know the rest are coming.
I have been seeing a lot of Hooded Mergansers...
all of these are males except the tan colored duck on the left side of this picture,
they are so sweet with their unusual coloring and tiny beaks.

Gorgeous creatures! Great photos, Debbie.
Hello Debbie,
Wonderful photos of the Ducks. I always loved the Bufflehead, Ruddy Ducks and the Hooded Mergansers are lovely.
Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.
These ducks are all so unusual and unique! I love that first photo...the background really sets it off! WOW! Stay warm!
Such amazing ducks. You are lucky to see them every year. Great shots as usual.
All these photographs are so nice and with high quality. But the first one, really have a very special color effect. For me is the best, in special, for the surpressive and unussual effect obtained. Its great.
Hello what gorgeous group of photos especially the first one is like an oil painting!
Great photographs Debbie.
All the best Jan
