ICE At Gaylord National

If you have never been, you have to go.
Every year there is a different theme, this year "ICE" featured
"A Charlie Brown Christmas"
More than 40 world-renowned master artisans spend more than 6 weeks hand carving
approximately 6,000 blocks of ice to create this one-of-a-kind Christmas attraction.
With more than 17,000 square-foot and 14 immersive scenes.

- there is more than 2 million pounds of ice -
- it is 9 degrees fahrenheit inside -
- there are 14 immersive whimsical scenes -
- the ice is hand-sculpted with more than 12,000 carving hours -

On to the best part...pictures!

There was a slide, 2 stories high, the hubs went first...
and of course I had to go...

The vibrant colors in the ice sculptures are specially created by a chemist
with a proprietary formula to ensure it closely matches each character's specific color
and to maintain its bright color the entire season!

It ends with a pretty Nativity,

and lovely Christmas music!

When I read your post about ICE at Gaylord National - which was quite interesting, btw, I thought possibly you lived nearby and how ironic two bloggers with titles that include "purple" lived near the Gaylord National. But, after doing a little research, I assumed you traveled out of state to the Gaylord National to see the show. I lived right next door to National Harbor many years before it was being built and a few years after it opened. We sold our home and moved away because of the congestion it would bring. However, we have friends who still
live in the area and go back to visit. National Harbor is quite a beautiful place and we really enjoy visiting it whenever we can.

Wow!!That's NOT REAL, right!!?? Ha ha, just kidding!! What amazing work. I think I would freeze in there tho! 😆 🤣 😂. My favorite is the Bones all stacked up for Snoopy, can't even imagine how they did that. That slide is COOL! LOL. was it a slick or bumpy ride down?

Good on you for going down that slide! Charlie looks so worried in many of the photos...
Love those ice sculptures, I could stare at them all day wondering how the carver created them!
