Howe Street Beach

The sun has not made an appearance at the Jersey Shore in a week.
It has been dark, misty, and gloomy...
it has rained every single day.
One full week of rain, even for this rain loving girl, I have had enough.
I did a little research on the weather,
it is hard to find any information except for Florence updates,
but it could be the remnants of Gordon that are impacting our ocean and giving us all this rain.

We went and visited the ocean yesterday, it was angry...
mother nature is not happy.

The waves were large and powerful.

The wood laying across these rocks came from a different beach,
they broke away and mother nature carried them here.

The beach is starting to disappear again, along with the sand dunes.
The steps that lead down to the beach are once again gone.

Flipper, made from painted shells is still safe...

as is this beautiful whale tail...or is it a tale?

The beaches are my home,
and even though we are not expecting a direct hit from Florence,
I know our ocean here will be impacted in some way.

I experienced Super Storm Sandy,
I know first hand the impact and devastation a storm like this can have.
I am keeping everyone in it's path in my thoughts,
I hope everyone remains safe!

Yes, the storms are getting pretty wicked right now. I have not seen the news this morn so I am not sure what is taking place in the Carolinas right now. Great art work made from the shells however.

Hello, Debbie! Our weather here has been much the same for weeks it seems. Seeing the sunshine is rare lately. I love the Flipper, very cute. We may get some rain from this hurricane later next week. Happy Friday, enjoy your day and weekend!

With climate change accelerating, and storms becoming more ferocious and more frequent, your beaches are going to disappear unfortunately.

I think your ocean is lovely. I always love seeing the ocean like that.
I hope you don't get any of the storm.
Stay safe.

I hate that the beaches are eroding. No hurricane storm is safe to ride out. Too many already needing rescued, from staying behind. Praying for everyone along our East coast. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

Love the painted stones. Stormy weather at the beach can be beautiful but at the same time devastating. Our weather is the same and we are expecting a lot of rain from Florence. People down there are very much in my thoughts today.

It’s been on my mind all day as well, debbie! The strength of the sea is impressive and deadly!

I'm glad Flipper is still there, so pretty.

So much devastation from Florence so far, and it's not even close to being over. My prayers are with them all. And, I hope the rains hold off for you soon!

xoxo

They need all the good wishes they can get, that's for sure. We still need rain on this corner of the country. It doesn't ever seem to be evenly distributed. Hope yours disappears soon.

It is always a good day when the sun makes an appearance. Yes, when Mother Nature is angry, she sure wreaks damage. So much rain there, drought conditions elsewhere. The to-ing and fro-ing of the weather.

Nature is perhaps discontent with human behaviours...
Good luck all with the hurricane!

Despite a lack of sunshine, you managed to get some beautiful pictures.

Wow, very dramatic! A nice contrast to the blue sky/peaceful water periods. Beautiful stones!

There is a lot of churning up weather right now and strange stuff. You did get some great photos of the angry ocean. I am happy that Flipper and the Whale Tail are still intact. I hope your area stays safe.
Right now we are fighting fires. I have a chronic cough most of the year and this time of year it is usually OK. The smoke from the fires is not helping me at all. Today it was so bad that even my eyes were stinging. I'm trying to stay home as much as I can.
I too am sending prayers and good thoughts for those in the area of Florence.
Sending loving thoughts, prayers and hugs for you too!
