Good Fences ~ Edition 20 ~

Again today, for Good Fences,
I am sharing some non-traditional Fence / Walls.

The Green Wall at Longwood Gardens
Designed to resemble a lush, green jungle,
14 feet high and 300 feet long,
the Green Wall is the largest in North America.

Designed by British landscape architect Kim Wilkie,
 and installed in 2010.
The idea for the Green Wall started as a sketch on a cocktail napkin.
The wall contains 47,000 plants, provides oxygen,
and cleans dust from the air.

Here is a peak at the wall from the outside...
it is pretty spectacular!!

Images from our trip on May 6, 2014

I am super excited to be sharing these pretty walls with
for Good Fences.
Stop by and consider joining in the fun, any fence or gate will do!!

Ray planted Four O'Clocks for the first time this year. They are threatening to make a Green Wall all by themselves. Ray said they can get up to 3 ½ feet tall before getting any flowers. When they do flower they supposedly smell like vanilla. Right now they pretty much look like large green weeds. 3 ½ feet. Really Ray?

Many of the farmhouses here in New Zealand have fences made from pine trees or bushes or camellia trees. They are kept cut flat on each side but still seem to flourish quite nicely. I really like the rock wall, too.
