Turkey Vulture

Showing Off!!

A very large, black bird with a small red featherless head.

Landing on the roof of a home, right in my neighborhood!!

These are usually seen in open country and dumps.
They are only occasionally seen in urban areas!!

Please stop by to view all the amazing photographs of our feathered friends!!

Sorry, but that's a face only a mama could love! Just read all the way back to your butterfly shots...some beautiful photography, enjoyed it all!

Not crazy about these guys. Here in Florida you find them on the side of the road cleaning up dead armadillas. When they land on the roof, they make enough noise to get my dogs barking. They remind me of the creepy flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz. Great photography!

Yes,he was a showing off for you.

I only see those creepy scavengers in cartoons. Kinda spooky to see one visit your house. Just don't lay down in the yard even to catch a bit of sun until he leaves. ;oD

Hi Debbie...I laughed when your post ...I had a few picture of the Turkey Vultures I was going to publish today too ...

Yours are great and clear ....love it just sitting on the roof lol..
I might be worried there was something dead in the neighborhood since they may be smelling carrion!! lol

I live in a small town so am close to country, but they are all the time flying over our little town. And I have seen them on the street a time or two where something has gotten hit.

Great images, btw.

Great shot they seem to be hanging around.

It would be interesting to see an artists conception of a vulture with head feathers! As they are, we could not do without them cleaning up our messy world.
