Saturday Critters #651

Lake of the Lilies...it's not just for the Mute Swans you know.
The lake is home for quite an array of song birds and the big guys like Herons and Egrets.
Today, I will share some current pictures of the little songbirds.

This is a male Red Winged Blackbird...

it has a very loud, distinctive call, that you almost always hear before you see it.

This is the Female Red Winged Blackbird.
I rarely notice them...with their common coloring they do not stand out.

The very common Male House Sparrow.

A bird with beautiful markings that are often overlooked because of it's brown and gray coloring.

This is the Female House Sparrow

All of these birds are commonly seen at Lake of the Lilies.

The male Red Winged Blackbird certainly steals the show, but I enjoyed seeing the females and sparrows as well.

Beautiful photos. I never would have guessed that was a female red winged black bird. It looks so different.
