Saturday Critters #604

There are so many Red-Winged Blackbirds at Lake of the Lilies, they hangout and enjoy being near water.
They can be difficult to photograph, they are quick,
I try to be quicker.
Hanging out on the reeds seems to be a favorite place to sit and relax.

There are a lot of Mute Swans and Turtles too!

But on this day...

the Red-Winged Blackbirds were everywhere I looked!

They have a very distinctive call...

and as I have said before, you will often hear them before you see them.

These are all males, the female looks very different.
She has beautiful marking, is shades of brown and tan, with specks of orange by her beak.

I see a lot of these blackbirds but it is so hard to capture the red in the wings. You did great. Love the turtle too. Happy weekend!

Hello Debbie,
Great series on the Red-winged Blackbirds.
The swan looks very upset about something.

I don't know if it's your camera or your patience, but you always get the most remarkable bird shots. These are no exception.
